United's new First Team manager Dom Di Paola is now well into his first week in the role, with he and his backroom team having taken charge of their first training session on Monday evening, and preparations are taking shape for this weekend's visit from Guernsey, when the U's will aim to halt a five match losing sequence against a side that beat them in both league meetings, and also in the FA Cup, last season.
The Club is now pleased to confirm that Nigel Kane, who kindly stepped in as caretaker boss immediately after Terry White's resignation, has been appointed to a new position named Head of Football Development, while Mark Stapley has also been instated as his assistant.
Kane had served as Coach and Assistant Manager since returning to the Club in February 2014, just over six years since his original reign as First Team boss concluded, a spell which included United's promotion as play-off winners at the end of the 2006/07 campaign.
Stapley has been part of the coaching staff at the Pilot Field since 2010 and was Sean Ray's assistant during the defender's time at the helm. He has also taken charge of Reserve and Youth Team affairs in the past.
The pair will now combine to oversee the development of the Club's various age group sides - the Under 21s now managed by Scott Price and Andy Laskey, the Under 18s managed by Conrad Moore and Bernie Walker, and the new Academy set-up in conjunction with Ark William Parker - and will also be responsible for developing the relationship between these teams and the senior side.
Their roles will doubtless evolve further over the coming weeks and months, as Di Paola himself settles into life with the U's, and the Club would like to wish them every success in this new venture.
