We will play away in the second prem. round of the FA Cup against
They currently play in the Ryman Premier League and are 7th in the table.
They play their home games at The New Recreation Ground
And Hastings ? After the recent events this week i will not give a prediction, not an update off the situation up and near the pitch but only want to wish the team success under Nigel Kane and a safe journey for who is going !
Come on Hastings! Time to stand up and be counted from DW down, Enough of the lacklustre performances an FA cup round win and new manager should encourage the whole club. Do it for the travelling supporters we'll be rooting for you, dont let us down, see you at Mill Field!

Totally undeserved last minute defeat today. We totally dominated the first half against an average looking Greys team, really should have gone in at half time a couple of goals to the good. Second half started much the same, until Sam Cruttwell was taken off for whatever reason. And Rose was switched to left back, after having a fairly decent game at right back. After this, Greys caused continuous problems down both flanks, particularly their number 14. With about 20 minutes to go, Frankie was one on one with the keeper in the penalty area, but pulled his shot wide, when he really should have put Hastings 1up. After this, it was pretty much all Greys as the Hastings midfield particularly Cook and Dolan, were completely out on their feet. All the fans could see it, and we're screaming for a substitution, but it never came. And it was no surprise that Masters who looked out of his depth from the moment he arrived, gave away an unnecessary penalty. Despite this, there was still 5 minutes remaining, but still no substitutions! Which no one could understand.
Absolutely gutted for King, Sammy Adams, and the 2 Olorunda's who were immense today, King was my man of the match. Definitely an improved performance today, and didn't deserve to lose, but someone please explain, why we made no substitutions late on, when 2-3 players clearly had no more to give, and were passengers. I would also like to know what Bankole has done wrong, and why he was seen storming off to the changing room, after the goal was conceded.
The fact is we didn't have one player on the bench fit enough to change the game. That is not Nigel's fault, we had a shortage of players capable of playing at the level required today, and it cost us. I thought though we deserved a draw but that last 15 we were completely outplayed and sadly there was 5 minutes too many in the game!!!!
Much better display from the lads, unlucky to lose to late penalty, did feel fresh legs may have saved us at the end, so why only one sub used! Looking forward to Monday now!
I agree with John's last paragraph why did bankole go and get dressed as soon as the goal was scored imo that's disrespectable he doesn't deserve to play for Hastings things need sorting very quickly we need more players like sam adams
first 10 mins and last 15 Grays better side, rest of game farely even and if frankie had take that chance then who knows. think we created lot of chances today and more effort from players. rose and cook though are so out of depth it is joke and cruttwel today was not playing good but still better with him than masters. why is masters in squad let lone side. the sub bench today could not change game, bankole back from holiday, masters not good enough and inexperience temba with Ray injured. chris b says not Nigel fault that but dont we have under 21 and under 18 side that can give some options if needed. but some players out on feet after 80 min and even a couple of youngsters may have given us chance against poor grays side on a pitch as bad as i have seen. grays in upper end of ryman premier so think the standard of that league must be very bad this season.
felt sorry for players today deserved at least draw at depressing place
Agree with pretty much everything that's been said. Players gave everything but on 75 minutes we looked spent and I would have thought Bright could have come on unless he wasn't fit? Bankole might have been back from holiday but surely he would have had enough energy for the last 15 minutes when we were flagging. Disappointing way to lose a game. Thought Sammy, The Olorundas and Kingy were class today.
A pretty good performance on a grassy but very bumpy surface; with, of course, a disappointing and frustrating finale. It was good to see so many of our supporters had travelled to the rather depressing (but friendly) venue.
Yes, perhaps some fresh legs might have saved us; but NK had very few options with injuries, cuptied players, etc. To my mind the change he did make - bringing Bryce Masters on for Sam worked out OK. Sam was not playing that badly (his throw-ins were excellent) but there had been a couple of occasions when he had been caught out. Bryce played an effective defensive game. Well done him and others who gave their best on the day.
Okay, going to try and be as composed as possible with this reply, but I imagine I'll step over the line somewhere...
1) Ade was immense today, as were a number of other players. They gave it everything and that's all I ask. Josh as normal was fantastic. Defense looked solid between about 20 and 70 minutes, there were three chances for Grays in the first 20, but we learnt from that and looked much better afterwards.
2) Tazor needs to just run when carrying the ball, and run fast. When he slows down and tries to get past players by being clever, he invariably loses the ball. Just run at them, hard. The guy against him yesterday was useless on the rare occassion he did this, he should have seen it. Also, lost count of the amount of times he turned his back to the ball when going in for a tackle, which was annoying.
3) Masters should not be playing at this level. As soon as he came on, the entire game changed. I assume he is related to someone in power or is paying for his place? I don't usually single out one player for a poor performance, but this was something else.
4) I stood and watched the management/coaches reaction to the players on the pitch after full time. None of them should get the permanent job. It was poor all around. Players were splintered into groups, management walked off the team separately from the players and it just looked terrible. The players should've been told how good their performance was, and that really been used to motivate for the league. What I saw was a bunch of individuals, with a weak management team. Noone should've left the pitch deflated, which is what I saw. You walk off the pitch, have a 10 minute talk, and then do a team warmdown. Not. Difficult.
5) I know this annoyed us in the past - don't leave crap (like sock tape) on the pitch when you leave. Someone has to deal with it - and it just comes across as poor again. We left a lot of crap on the pitch.
6) Not even going to get started on the consistency of the referee... Or what game the linesmen were watching... But basic, basic decisions were wrong for both sides. My favourite was when we were attacking down the left, and the ball went out of play by about four feet and we were allowed to play on.
Some strong words there Glenn and agree with most points made.
No one can disagree with any of your comments on point 1.
Taser was very frustrating yesterday. His set pieces are poor, his crosses are either brilliant or don't beat the first man and he bottles most 50/50 challenges, but don't most wide men? Still think Taser will come good and a very important part of the rebuilding required.
Masters has certainly struggled all season and the game did change when he came on but we didn't lose directly because of his performance. In fact on viewing Dan's vid I guess Timmy and King were as much as fault as he was for the penalty but he did look vulnerable throughout and he has made a number of mistakes this season. I think he may be able to play at this level but he's not right for Hastings at this time in my opinion.
On point 4, personally don't really care what happens on the pitch after the game, I guess anything that needs to be said can be said in the changing room but I have to say I was still not inspired by what I saw yesterday from the sidelines. I honestly believe we lost yesterday's match not because of the players but because Nigel did not trust Bankole or Bright to do a job. Cook and Dolan were shot with 15 remaining and one should of been replaced as we completely lost the centre of the park. Razors injury was very unfortunate but we were still short of one sub. Is there really no one at all coming through from the u21s?
Couldn't give a toss about 5. See clubs doing it at the Pilot Field every game.
The referee was abysmal yesterday, but equally bad for both teams so no advantage gained from that.
I get absolutely no joy in seeing people lose there jobs but the sooner we get someone new in, with no previous ties to the club, the better. Burgess Hill seem to be doing a Peacehaven but everyone else is dropping points so still believe, perhaps foolishly, that the play offs are still a possibility.
On reading that back, I think that reads as if I'm having a go at Taser which wasn't the intention. I really do rate the guy, but he can just be quite frustrating to watch sometimes as I think we all know he absolutely has the quality to be a game changer and we just want him to do that all the time! Completely agree with us needing to bring a sub on after 75 and was shocked we didn't at least throw someone else on up front after the penalty went in (not sure who, but surely any fresh legs at that point?!). I don't think Masters gave the penalty away - but he certainly did give a couple of great chances away (one of which he did tackle back on very well), but a better opposition would've punished both of those and then it would've been signed and sealed by the time the penalty came along. Think how John has put it is probably the best... 'Not right at this time', sorry.
@Dan: If Stapes went and picked up the mess then I'm more than happy to take back that comment - I was there for about 25 minutes after the game finished just watching what was happening (as I found the interaction on the pitch after the game a fascinating insight...) - so I'll admit I didn't see anything after that. Not that it particularly bothers me, but I just think about some poor groundsman having to go and pick it up in his own time and just think it's a bit unfair is all! It's not as if it's the groundsman's job, I doubt he/she gets paid to do it, so why should he spend five minutes of his life picking up something that shouldn't be dropped there in the first place. We gave a great account of ourselves on the pitch so we should try and live up to those standards off it as well.
Agree the team played well and gave everything.we had a number of good chances to score but could not put finishing touch. yes it was clear that we needed fresh legs for the last 15 mins so cannot understand why Bankole or Tempa was not brought on. Dissapointed to see that Jordan Johnson has gone to Walton Casuals according to Ryman web site as I thought he could have given us options. It also showed on Saturday how much we need Ade to remain fit as we have no one like him to deal with high balls up to the strikers.
Lets get realistic if Taser was consistent and did what most want, he would be playing a much higher level. The only time you can blame any player is when they don't try, do something stupid or let the club down. You cant blame someone for not being good enough.
I simply don't agree with the extent of the criticism (above) of Bryce Masters. Yes Sam C (as always) looks good going forward and Bryce is a much more defensive player, but I thought he played that role pretty competently yesterday. Yes, there were some errors but to my mind less than some of his much more experienced counterparts; and, yes, his introduction created a less attacking formation but that presumably was NK's intention - and I don't think it a demonstrably irrational one.
Surprised with you comments Geoff about Bryce masters. the number of goals he cost us this season is a lot specially when he has most times been sub. clearly it was him that stupidly made the wreckless challenge that gave away the pen. there must be better players than him and think he is only in side because hes family.
here another video from game which clearly shows the mess he made for the pen. i do remember he made a good challenge when grays striker about to shoot but he gave the ball away just before so only corrected his error. www.youtube.com/watch
as to management in the past cant remember his name but his nickname was ipad. we have gone backwards because we now have a notepad in dugout not even electronic. kane clings to it or is it a bible for prayer time?
I find it always difficult just to criticize one player in particular, if someone is not good enough then you have to blame the manager for give him a place in the squad.
It is always a team effort and team result; we don't blame our strikers to miss so much chances.Or do we ?
Peter: Yes, you're right - the video does clearly show it was a reckless challenge by Bryce for the penalty. At the game I missed that. I thought (from the side at the other end) it was Jamahl who was at fault. My mistake. As for other errors by Bryce, obviously there was the one the previous Saturday, but others must have been at games I missed.

I was only discussing yesterday how watching the game from different positions in the ground can have a massive difference in how you are influenced by the performances in the game, normally I like to sit on the sidelines but Saturday I decided to go behind the goal, as much as I enjoyed the company I really do prefer the side as for me you can get a better prospective of the game.
As the majority of Taser's crosses go in at the front post, you'd think that one of our strikers would have learned to anticipate that, and try and get across the first defender. Frustrates me at every game.
I think Frankie Sawyer is an absolute shadow of the player we all know and love. Just cannot believe he is anywhere near 100% fit and worry he may have something serious that none of us know about . He's even lost that yard pace that used terrorise defences. Supporters and players talked about 30 goals plus this season but just cannot see it with the chances he is missing. A Frankie on top form is as good as anything in our league, Ross Allen apart.
Frankies had some type of reoccurring back problem all season hasn't he? saw something in the observer about it a while ago i recall? picking up the hamstring prob on top wouldn't have helped.
Not knowing the ins and outs of how players are paid, if it is as some think you only get paid if you play or are ob the bench, is there a danger that some are playing when they aren't fit and shouldn't be.
I heard a Rumour around the ground Chris that both Frankie Sawyer and Richard Rose are our highest paid players both on £300 a week each, whether this is true or not I don't know.
I also heard that the only reason Frankie stayed with us this season was because of the money and also the fact that we were putting together a decent side that had a very good chance of winning the league and taking us back up into the Ryman Premier, at which level he thinks he should be playing.
As Johnw rightly says he is a shadow of a player he was (Probably through injuries) so if he is struggling to score in Ryman South, how is he going to get goals in the Ryman Premier.
I also heard that Josh Pelling only stayed with us because pre season we were supposedly going to walk this league with the players we had, and win promotion automatically.
So if we fail to go up this season surely we will be making a loss financially and where will all these players be next season.
wow, Very harsh on Frankie there I feel, the Frankie of last season would defiantly had scored goals in Prem if fit and am sure he will score lots in South when fit too, it's only Sept after all. anyone can pick up an injury. I'm sure a combination of Terry selling the clubs ambition and also matching offers elsewhere led to him staying but he could have taken the easy route and joined a Prem club much closer to his home and been better off due to less travelling. The fact he wanted to be captain shows his dedication to us too.
Same facts apply to Josh who also could be playing higher.
even if we had won it this season we would have made a loss, of course if we don't go up then players will probably be a lot harder to retain again but the playoffs are not out of the question yet.
