After a great display and a great win last Saturday in the FA Cup we are now facing in the League :
Last season we drew at home 11-11-2013 1-1, penalty Sam Adams and away we lost 8-4-2014 with 2-1, goal Frankie Sawyer.
This season the home club is on place 6th in the table, getting 17 points out of 9 games.
From their 4 home games they got only 5 points, from their 5 away games 12 points !
The Brickies are playing : TEC Stadium Woodstock Park Broadoak Road Sittingbourne Kent ME9 8AG
And can we continue after the great display last Saturday against Whyteleafe ?! After 0-1 down we showed some great character and we won at the end by goals from Sam Adams and a wonder strike from Ade Olorunda
Like Johw a few times mentioned the team seems to g'''l and hopefully we can get 3 points from this Kent site who seems to struggle a little bit at home. Now that Kenny Pogue, Tim Olorunda and Jordan Johnson are available again it is not sure how the line up will be. Olalekan Bankole had a very good game in midfield so Terry has some decisions to make.
For all those who are supporting the U'sss and make the travel to Kent; have a safe journey and bring back 3 points please.
Looking forward to this on Tuesday night and I'd think with confidence high from yesterday the players will be looking forward to it too? We've got a few knocks to contend with obviously that's in no way nothing official but from what I saw of young Sams ankle yesterday you'd realise he'll do well to be fit for Tuesday, fingers crossed he'll recover.
Even the Sittingbourne manager is using the bloody 'gel' word, when talking about Hastings. Interesting to read his early season assessment as they have more new players than we have.
With one-fifth of the league season played, Sittingbourne manager Matt Wyatt reflects on what’s been achieved so far. Tony Rickson asked the questions.
TR: I know you said before the season started that you were aiming for the play-offs, but you must be more than happy to be in the top six at this stage.
MW: Yes, I’m comfortable with a return of 17 points from nine games.
We’re doing all right and there’s a good work ethic at the club. I was pleased with the two away wins in the last week, we worked hard for them both.
TR: You picked up a couple of injuries in those games. Anything serious?
MW: David Abe had to go off with a groin injury at Walton Casuals and Nick Dunsdon with an achilles problem at Ramsgate. But we’re hoping they’ll be fit for the Hastings game on Tuesday. And Daniel Fleming should be back in contention after getting injured in pre-season and not being able to play since.
TR: But you’ve also let a couple go, haven’t you.
MW: Yes, we agreed to let Harry Smith go. And Ehis Izokun and Cameron George, both good lads, have been told they’re not in our plans as we have too many options in their positions. You can have too big a squad and you start changing teams for the sake of it. With Adam Molloy staying, we’ll also look at getting Sean Bazell out on loan as well as Stefan Wright.
TR: Was there ever a chance of Joe Taylor coming back to Sittingbourne once Farnborough were letting him go?
MW: Joe’s a very good player and a nice lad. But we’ve got a good bunch of people working really hard so it’s always got to be the right person if you bring someone in. It could have changed our ethos and we didn’t want that. Apart from that we wouldn’t have been able to afford him.
TR: So it’s a weekend off for the players?
MW: Yes, it will do them good to get a bit of rest and some energy back but we’d rather have been playing in the FA Cup. It was so disappointing that our worst performance of the season came in the Dorking game. We could have done with the money for winning.
TR: Possibly, that defeat was a bit of a turning point, though?
MW: We’ve had a good run since. We needed to show some passion after the Dorking game and that’s what has happened. We’re a young team and we’ll still get some poor results and there will be poor runs as well as good ones. But I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made and the way the players have responded.
TR: Your next opponents, Hastings, have made a slow start to the season but you always expect them to end up as one of the front runners.
MW: Tuesday night will be very tough. They’ve got some very good players and they’ve got to gel at some stage. We just hope it’s not against us. But we’re doing all right. We are going to come up short in a couple of areas at times but we’ll just keep going.
Great goal from Cook, and most dominant performance of season to date, 1st to ball, vast majority of possession and chances only downside was what looked a worrying injury to Frankie.
Frankie said that it wasn't to bad, I would of played it safe giving his back injury he's been suffering and put young Bright on.
Very happy with tonight's performance, solid strong and very quick to shut the ball down quickly. Could of had a few more and 3-1 probably flattered Sittingbourne. Cooks goal now gives us 3 goals to contend goal of the season at this relatively early stage of the season. Gutted we conceded a goal but in all fairness the lad took it well. Looking forward to Saturday now and hopefully an equal performance as that tonight with a few more goals.
Well done lads great performance.
if we had played like that most of season then we would not be mid table. much better playing the way we do now and players look as if they kmow what they are doing. very good performance last night and for 80 mins we totally dominated the game. shame we let a goal in and agree 3-1 flattered sittingbourne. could and should have been 7, 8 maybe 9. hope we start taking our chances more. what a goal from Cook, 35 to 40 yards out look up see kepper off line and hit a beauty.
Great performance and three great goals. Dave's was a fantastic shot that dipped under the bar, Kenny's overhead kick was reaaly special and Ade scored agreat striker's goal. Shame about thei late goal spoiling our clean sheet but credit to their player for a well taken goal. Great performances all over the pitch. I thought Dave had his best game for us last night and young Sam keeps getting better. My MoM from a long list of candidates was Ollie for another stand out performance in midfield. I hope Frankie and Sam are OK for Saturday be great to have a full squad to give Terry a big selection headache. Well done to Terry and the lads.
Still loving that dave cook goal, what a ****ing hit ! Best goal i've seen in a long time ! a good solid team performance and ade and kennys goals were good as well ! I dont know what 'gel' John Wright is using but i think i'll have to get some for my hair, seems to be doing the job after our last 2 games haha
Dominated for 90 minutes last time. Like Rimsay, I am still reliving Dave Cooks exceptional goal over and over in my head. More consistent performances like this would be fantastic.
I only saw Ade's as didnt go to Sittingbourne - Interesting to see that Sittingbourne are saying in their match report that the result was harsh on their "brave battlers". What a load of hogwash. Everyone who went on Tuesday has told me that we could have won by six or seven.

If it was harsh Pat it certainly wasn't them who were dealt harshly, if anything it was us. As you say we should of had more than 3. I think I'm not in the minority in saying probably the worse team we've played this season that I have seen.
They appeared appalling, though with us being better and finally looking like a team, only time will tell if they were that bad, or were we just a lot better than them
Having just read their match report I can honestly say how good it is having Sean write up our match reports, his views are never biased and are always balanced unlike Sittingbournes but then it is a game of opinions.
