After the win against Hythe Town we will face now in the FA Cup
Some familiar faces we will see in the line-up off the home club : Bailo Camara and Andy Corrigan.
They play in the Sussex County League Division one and in the League table they are current the nr. 1 after 4 wins !
Top scorer is Wes Tate with 5 goals who is also assistant manager. They play at The Oval, Channel View Road.
Hopefully Terry White's team have regain confidence after the narrow but deserved win against Hythe Town. It won't be a easy game for the U's but with the support of many supporters i think we will win with 1-2. Frankie and Sean are the heroes....
See Andy Corrigan and Bailo started for them on their last game, our dual reg guy Jason Taylor scored twice after coming on as sub. Paul Rogers our trialist from Preseason also scored!
well he wasn't having the best of time with us unfortunately in terms of making appearances so a move to a nearer club to where he works & assume lives may help him get back to his best
Liam-don't think thers is much difference between most of the teams in the Ryman South and its surrounding County Leagues. We shouldn't be assuming we are at that much of a higher level. Eastbourne United could put out a pretty strong side even in County League 2 last season.
agree Tim and i think Eastbourne start as favourites today. very little difference between top of county and ryman south, they have good players at Eastbourne and are confident side. cant find odds on game but id say Eastbourne 2-1, Hastings 5-2 Draw Evens. Should be interestsing close game and hope we win
Not the most convincing performance once again but the team showed some real character after a terrible opening 20 minutes. Against what looked like a fairly limited side, albeit top of county one, Hastings did all they could to gift Eastbourne a 2nil lead. A poor defensive header by Razor giving away the first goal and the customary lapse of concentration down our left hand side gifted them the 2nd. After that there really only looked like one team who were going to win it. A great finish by Ade and a scruffy 2nd by Frankie deservedly brought Hastings level, although misses by both Ade and Frankie, when it looked easier to score, should have sent us in 4-2 at the break.
The 2nd half was a fairly poor affair with Hastings once again missing plenty of chances while at the other end Josh pulled of a couple of smart saves. I think it was only a matter of time before Hastings scored and they deservedly took the lead through a deflected shot by Dave Cook. After that it was fairly comfortable, despite Tim's sending off, and at the final whistle there were some very relieved supporters.
Defensively we looked shaky a lot of the time, with Rose in particular struggling at right back and giving the ball away too easily, I am certainly not convinced with Sean and Timmy together and starting to wonder what poor old Jamahl has done bar the poor performance at Burgess Hill. And young Sam....I thought he was at fault for their 2nd goal but after that was probably our best defender so well done to him after recent criticism.
Taser had a decent game whilst Ronnie was a little quiet but once again in the centre we seemed to be over run at times. Dave Cook is to offensively minded and really needs Timmy in there to bring out the best in him I believe, although Ole did ok.
And upfront, Ade caused problems all day once again but Frankie, despite another goal, seems to be lacking a bit of confidence at the moment and is missing too many opportunities but his levels of effort and commitment are second to none.
So two must win games for Terry have been successful, but still very unconvincing. I cannot put my finger on it but it just still does not look right at the moment. Ade has certainly made a huge difference and with Kenny on the way we look fine up top. I think we still lack a playmaker in the centre of the park and I think Timmy is missed as a bit of protection. But defensively, the area we all thought we would be fine, looks decidedly shaky at the moment. The full backs have been average and Razor needs to settle in with Jamahl for a period of time.
Great comeback though today and onwards and upwards!

Chatham 1 Whytleafe 2, so Whytleafe at home next round I believe. East Grinstead drew 2-2 so I guess that's our league game postponed on Tuesday. And 2 Trevor McCreadie goals knock Guernsey out 2nil at Worthing.
We definitely don't make life easy for ourselves but full credit to all for turning it around. Can't disagree with Johns assessment at all. Relieved that we are through. We can't gift anyone else two goals though as we can't always get ourselves out if jail especially against better sides than Eastbourne who I thought were average at best.
a wins a win and that was closer than it need to be. surprised how leaky our defence is. first goal a horror back header from Razor, 2nd goal i thought came from Rose who gave ball away cheaply on right before eastbourne play ball to there right. but if we take all our chances we could have won by a lot more and Ade and Frankie misses could of cost us big time. 2 decent saves from Josh 2nd half and nervy at the end
our play is sometimes to slow with pace we have in side think we need to go forward quicker to use it. agree with JW not sure what Jamahl has done but last substitue strange Bryce on when better surely put King on to replace Tim. think we miss tim in midfield
Personally don't think Sam was to blame for the second goal, I think that an error was made on the opposite side of the pitch enabled the ball to be worked to our left, where the right winger was a good one to two yards offside but wasn't picked up by the linesman. Even a few Eastbourne supporters couldn't believe their luck. I know that is no excuse for errors made leading up to the goal but it all plays a part.
I thought Sam had a much improved game. I honestly had a horrible feeling prior to the game that we would loose but even at 2-0 down like others have said I couldn't see us loosing.
Jamhal picked up a knock on his knee in the warm up which I don't know whether or not effected the side but I agree, we need Tim back in midfield and Kingy back alongside Razor.
Frankie I think will start to click very soon, he's getting in the right positions and I think once he's back in form will get his target of 30 goals.
A great comeback overall against a side until today were unbeaten. Well done boys great comeback.
2nd goal was a rose mistake, Sam had his most consistent game today, no obvious errors and a couple of good moves going forward. As for Frankie I thought the ball took an awful bounce for that first miss, hopefully Dan has some footage to show if it did. Still my main concern is who is captain again today it looked like Razor doing the organizing, lets make him captain and get on with it.
Of course there has to be make some progress in the team but this moment the most important thing is getting the confidence back. And how do you get that ? Just by winning your games and after 0-2 down and winning 3-2 must that give the team a big boost !
From the Observer: Hastings United survived a scare before edging past lower grade opposition in the FA Cup today (Saturday). Ryman Football League Division One South side United needed to produce a fine comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division One leaders Eastbourne United AFC in an entertaining preliminary round tie. Hastings named an unchanged side from that which beat Hythe Town in the league five days previously and it was they who had the game’s first real chance with Dave Cook firing just over. Eastbourne opened the scoring, however, in the 13th minute courtesy of a player who began the season with Hastings. Sean Ray’s attempted back header was intercepted by Jason Taylor, who placed a nice finish beyond goalkeeper Josh Pelling. After Taser Hassan flashed a dangerous ball across the face of the Eastbourne goal and Wes Tate shot wide of Pelling’s near post, Taylor went from scorer to provider of Eastbourne’s second goal in the 25th minute. Taylor cut in in from the left on a driving run and slipped the ball through for Lucas Mann to slot past Pelling. Staring embarrassment squarely in the face, Hastings responded extremely well. After Ronnie Dolan saw a snap-shot saved, Ade Olorunda turned his man inside the box and lashed a left-foot shot into the roof of the net to pull one back in the 27th minute. Hastings should have been back on level terms barely a minute later. The again impressive Olorunda got away down the left and squared for striker partner Frankie Sawyer, who skewed his shot wide with the goal at his mercy. The visitors did equalise in the 36th minute and Olorunda was again heavily involved. He backed into the defender and laid the ball off for Dolan, whose mi**** shot fell to Sawyer. Although Sawyer’s first effort was stopped, he scrambled the ball home at the second attempt. The momentum was with Hastings at the end of the first half and they had a great chance to take the lead early in the second period, but home goalkeeper Russell Tanner made a fingertip save from a clean through Sawyer. Olorunda’s firm header went straight at Tanner moments later. Although Hastings probably had more of the play with the wind at their backs, they needed a brilliant tip over by Pelling from Ashley Jarvis approaching the midway point in the second half to keep them on terms. Olorunda fired over on the turn from a Richard Rose throw and it was from another throw that Hastings grabbed an 80th minute winner. Sam Cruttwell’s long delivery from the left eventually dropped to Cook, who managed to get a shot away which rolled into the net. Eastbourne gave an excellent account of themselves, though, and kept pushing all the way to the end. Pelling made a good stop with his legs from Jarvis and then held a header from the same player. Hastings went down to 10 men as the clock ticked into added time after Tim Olorunda was shown a second yellow card for handball, but they held firm to set up a trip to Whyteleafe in first round qualifying on Saturday September 13. Hastings’s scheduled league game away to East Grinstead Town on Tuesday night now won’t take place because Grinstead have an FA Cup replay instead. Hastings: Pelling, Rose, Cruttwell, T. Olorunda, Ray, Bankole (Adams 63), Cook (Johnson 81), Dolan, A. Olorunda, Sawyer, Hassan (Masters 90). Subs not used: King, Fayers.
chris point about captain think razor should be captain as think frankie is struggling and better if he concentrate on scoring goals but only thing is thought it bad that razor tries to blame Josh for the first goal. better if he just hold hand up and say my fault and get on with it. still arguing as they come off at half time. mistake happen just accept it an move on rather than pass blame. mistake happen even in premiership with players on big money so never be perfect at hastings but important it dont make things worse with arguing
Thought Hastings always looked the better side but we keep gifting opposition sides goal scoring chances. Must get our defence sorted before we start making real progress this season. Definitely need to find our best combination in the centre of defence. Both sides contributed to an entertaining cup tie with Hastings creating lots of good chances.
Frankie's got 4 in 7 so not exactly struggling! Yes he could have put away some more chances but I believe the award of the captaincy was a major reason he stayed with us and you can tell he's hugely proud to be it. Players like razor will act like a captain regardless of an official title which is a good thing. Think Frankie will get us near 30 if not more and if Ade can play enough games then he really should get 20+ like how Cook seems to get a few from scrappy chances already and can see him getting 15 or so as well which will make a huge difference.

Dan, and with Kenny returning, Hassan scoring, Dolan hitting a few we will score more then a hundred !
Ery enjoyable Dan, however I'd like to know what Steves take on the players getting back in to cover mistakes was?????? Seriously though great addition to the proceedings, well done all concerned.
Good game of cup football. Agree about cutting out simple mistakes, I am sure Terry is working on it. Jamal got injured in the warm up and I think that affected our line up. Though Sam Crutwell had a good game and I really like his attitude. As to the second goal I thought it came from a mistake on the right and don't think Sam can be blamed. Another cup run please guys.
There prob is something there tbh Bert but haven't worked it out yet! Lol
Sorry about the bad language after the second goal, I was standing near some very rowdy fans... :)
Can appreciate Ades strengths after seeing that goal, movement, strength and finishing! Frankie's was opportunism and desire and Cooks was snapping up a half chance. All good! Great save by Josh in the second half too!
Thanks for the highlights Dan; very good! Ade's goal and Josh's save come over particularly well. Fair comment in the interviews that (the two early goals we conceded apart) that we were providing better cover when mistakes happened. Sam C was not exposed as he had been in previous games and showed what great potential he has.
Don't worry about the language, Dan, it goes with the territory. Also enjoyed the highlights, thanks - feel like I was there - and thought I recognised the voice that muttered after the first goal "Here we go again. Jesus Christ". You know who you are!

I'm not saying anything Jen. Thankfully I only had to put a couple of pound in the swear box. John W may have to remortgage to cover his costs!!
Sadly missed the game yesterday but followed on-line ( and have to confess that my language was not dissimilar to that on the recording at two nil) and really enjoyed the highlights, Dan. Good to see us creating so many chances for the second match running.
