After saying the game against Burgess Hill could be a crucial game what can we say now when we play against HytheTown.jpg

Last season we won both games: 24-08-2013 away with 1-2 ( late goals Pogue ) and at home we won 17-02-2014 3-2 ( goals Sawyer,Pogue and Vickers ) Hythe Town finished place 8th in the League Table.

This season they lost 3, drew 1 and won 1 so they have 4 points like us but a better goal difference.

Who could guess that game 6th of the season would be the number 23th against the number 20th of the table. After a good start Hastings seems somehow lost it and that 3 games in a row. We all have our opinions, we all know were the faults are and we all know what could or have to be better. But we are not in charge and i think Terry White knows that a big task lies before him. My unpretentious opinion would be stick to 4-4-2. Give players confidence and stay in that system. But like i said we are not in charge!

Good luck Terry, his team and players. Come on your U'sssssssssss !

What chance of the game going ahead with this constant rain and poor forecast?

My guess is that the pitch will be absolutely fine at 3:00.
The problem will come if the forecast is correct and we get much heavier rain during the match.
What we don't need is an abandonment when we're two up !

Just got back from the Pilot Field and the pitch looks amazing. I spoke to Simon and he is confident the pitch will drain.
Just need the players to put on a performance to reward Simon for 35 miles behind the mower this week.
Come on lads big effort today ahd restart the season.

Certainly a better performance today but still not convincing in atrocious conditions at the Pilot Field. Plenty of chances today and if Frankie had his shooting boots on we could well have been three or four up by the time Hythe got their equalizer. But after that goal the game really could of gone either way and just before Frankies winner Hythe missed an absolute sitter to everyone's relief. Defensively we looked very poor in the 2nd half and time after time Hythe opened us up down the troublesome right hand side where poor old Sam had a bit of a mare. As I have said before, I'm not blaming poor old Sam but surely after today Terry must spend every minute of the next week looking for a left back. We still looked a little vulnerable in the centre of the park but Taser and Ronnie both had good games out wide and Ade for me was easily MOM. With the news Kenny Pogue has now returned coinciding with his performance suddenly things look a whole lot better up top. We just must tighten up at the back.

So a wins a win and I guess Terry doesn't care how they come at the moment. Could defeat today had led to him losing his job? Who knows but I guess if we go on a run of wins now no one will care. Huge game at Eastbourne now which is another must win.

Better performance than shown in the last 3 games, actually showed a bit of fight and passed the ball at times instead of just hoofing up the pitch, ade was a help up front, being a target man and feeding the wingers and Frankie who scored a top penalty- he certainly needed that goal, but having said all that, I can't help but feel theres something still missing. Well done to the lads today though, can't take the 3 points and effort away from them today and rumour has it, Kenny Pogue will be joining us very soon!

also, a massive well done and thanks is in order for Simon and his team, who were up the pilot field from 10.30 this morning to get the game on! The pitch looked too good to play on considering the weather conditions! Simon is defiently a credit to this club, top stuff !

Andy corrigan watching from the terraces. I don't understand why he was never given an extended run. Looked better than most when he did play left back. Jordan woodley also there. What's happening with him?

Agree with above, a good response in the 1st half, came out of the blocks firing. Should have had 3 or 4 before Hythe scored. It's just defensively that still worries us, Hythes goal today was a poor goal to concede, and the free header they missed was poor marking. It shows how more clinical sides have beaten us this season so far. Overall, 3 important points which will hopefully kick start a good run.

I very much agree with all the above. Ade had a great game and it was good to see his appreciation for the applause from the supporters when he came off late in the game. It is very good news though that Kenny is returning - I think we see the best of him when he comes on as a second half substitute and really goes for it. Well done everybody today and let's hope we can press on in next Saturday's very tricky and important fixture.

Well done today. Let's see how far we can get in the cup.
Don't agree about Sam. He made som mistakbut worked hard to recover from them.

Steve: Re. Sam, yes he did work hard to recover from his mistakes and it seemed a very harsh decision for him to pick up a booking for what seemed to me to be a good recovery tackle. I am very reluctant to criticise any individual player but I thought Sam was exposed again today. He is a talented young player; but I feel he needs some careful coaching if he is to develop and not be discouraged. In that context and it was good to see Ben talking to him individually at half time. For me, although he obviously wants to come forward, he should first concentrate on his defensive game. I was glad to see Hythe take off their number 10 - I thought he was getting far too much space when up against Sam.

Really enjoyed our first half performance and should have been out of sight long before they equalised. I think Hythe were considerably poorer than anything we have seen this season but, credit where it's due, we looked capable of scoring every time we went forward and from every dead ball. How we went in at half time all square is a mystery !
I felt Hythe MUST improve after the break and, in terms of decent chances, the second half was far more even. Fortunately they 'blew' two great positions just before we got the winner. It will be interesting to see how many goal attempts both teams had....quite a few I reckon and it was certainly far more eventful than either of our previous two home games. (Wet surface = Faster game = More Excitement......QED !)
Thought Ade was excellent today and would also pick out Hassan and Cook who were both impressive. Left back is certainly still a problem. Sam is such a talented player but he is prone to poor positioning and every mistake seems to leave us exposed.
I was near Hythe supporters in the main stand who thought the penalty was harsh. Personally it looked a good decision to me...sometimes not given in the area but a free kick anywhere else on the pitch.
I feel we need to keep in perspective the fact that today we made hard work in disposing of a pretty poor side ....but there were certainly enough positives today to not reach for that panic button.

Only just got home, obviously better today we created chances, and should have won at a canter, with Kenny probably returning at least we should be able to play 2 up front now. Sadly we still look an accident waiting to happen at left back, not sams fault he isn't a left back, if this isn't addressed we will concede far too many goals to win the division. Rimsay I don't live for this forum, I do enjoy the banter when I post though.

Agree with much that's been said. Thought we should have been clear at half time but we certainly played well enough and deserved the win. Thought we looked threatening every time we came forward with Dolan and Tas at the wings. From my viewpoint I thought young Sam played well - especially second half. It's not his position of course and it's difficult I'm sure for him but I thought he acquitted himself well. As Mick said - no need to push a panic button yet - it's a foundation that I'm sure we will build on.

Highlights & post match interviews with Terry & Taser should be up hopefully around 10pm.

To be fair from what I've seen we don't look too bad, just a case of finishing chances.

After watching them back several times Sams yellow was def harsh and the Pen was 100% a pen.

3 points and seeing Guernsey lose heavily too shows it could be a funny season!

much better going forward finally the management have realised the obvious and we look dangerous with 2 up top but again Ade cant play 90 minutes but him and Tas probably our best players so even more bizare they did not start on Saturday. Where is the news of Kenny coming back from? is it true? good if so. our tempo look better today and the players wanted it and maybe the formation gave them confidence that they knew they could win with that formation
Defending at times is accident waiting to happen. I think Sam C did ok today, he aint a left back but he worked hard and fair play to the lad but still worried about Rose and he is overrated. Good to see Cook score hope that means he can go on and prove his worth. Pelling handling in atrocious conditions also v good.
hope managers have now realised we have to play 442 and hope they dont keep messing with systems when it obvious how we play best.
but we could have lost or drawn and Hythe missed 2 easy chances so in context i not get too excited but something to build on

Hi all ,I didn't attend game today but I have been done to see hastings this season .one thing I will say is it would be a daft decision to sack a manager after a handful of games even after a bad start!! Terry had got a number of new players in and things take time to gel so give him a chance before the dreaded sack !! Word is used.interesting point on guernsey they've had a awful start aswell.seams there best player Ross Allen has been a sub the last few games ( he came on today and scored) wonder why he's not been starting for them ? Mind elsewhere ? Fitness or injury issues ? He'd be a good signing for anyone if they could fund him to come over here !!

Ross Allen won't play for anyone else at this level at least, think it's been a question of whether he fancied playing football at all tbh. He hasnt played any friendlies so gaining fitness now.

Think if we play it simple then we'll be fine long term.

Ross Allen has only just started playing again after taking a break from the game. As well as missing Tom Vickers, I think Ben Judge was an important player for us over the last few seasons. Difficult to replace a player of his class. Hope we can build on todays result- we will need to be at our best next week.

nice to see a few of you stick up for sam c,just a shame there are still some wingers,as most of you know sam isnt a leftback but still goes out and plays without moaning.

some of the so called star players have thrown there dummies out of the pram when asked to cover fullback positions but i guess a 17 year old is an easy target, why dont you try slatting frankie for having 6 shots to score 1 goal or left wing for not tracking back to help out his defence

Great video, Dan.
Certainly cleared up any question around the penalty and the reaction of the Hythe players was very telling....they knew ! I had missed Ade's great leap to set up the situation.

Been thinking about this for a little while now and I honestly believe that the constant going on about Sam being weak at full back may play into other teams hands, let's face it some of us look at other forums and its not rocket science to work out that a reoccurring comment re Sam could make him a target area to other teams If they look on here. I know clubs scout other opponents reguarly but I would point out a few things to Terry if I saw things on another forum If I thought it would help.

Sam is young and a talented player, he has a great future ahead of him let's now get off his back and concentrate on backing the players and Terry in turning this season around Shall we?

I don't think people are having a go at Sam, I don't blame him its not his fault, but whatever anyone can say it is obvious that we are weak in the lb position. I feel sorry for Sam but a big question is he damaging his career by playing out of position, or is the experience going to stand him well in the future, only time will tell on that issue, as for your comment by mark about senior players if this is true perhaps some ought to be reminded they are playing for the club and getting paid by the club.

I've read most of the comments about Sam, and soon enough, I'll do an interview with him, on camera so he can set the record straight coming from himself. Other than that, thank you for your kind comments about the interviews and all the time people are interested, Dan and myself will continue to do so.

I think Marks comment re players moaning was reference to what we all witnessed on Saturday Chris, you had to be at another game to not have seen it. Your comment about playing for the club and being paid by the club is spot on, there are many players who would love to be in the position that our players are.

I agree with ChrisB's comments regarding Sam. He is a real asset to the club but he is a player who needs to be developed. He has great potential but it really will not help him or the club if the patently obvious is ignored which is that in several games playing at left back he has been very exposed allowing quite ordinary opposition players acres of space. There are very experienced defensive players at the club who must recognise the problem. Either the defensive formation needs to be reconfigured so that Sam has more cover or someone else should play as fullback, leaving him to play further forward. None of that is telling potential opposition management what would not be quite obvious from watching our team play for 10 minutes. Yes, in teams at all levels left back seems a difficult spot to fill but we have got to address the issue or be prepared to concede goals which will likely cost us dear.

playing a young lad out of position cant be doing his confidence any good, yes he has made mistakes but he does try to rectify them.

last season he played lb because hes left footed!!!!!!

Its a difficult one for him i feel, without being played at LB would he be in the team currently ahead of more experienced players? probably not, think Jordan Johnson at LW has done well ( Although probably does need to help a bit more defensively ) and with Ronnie Dolan and Tom Vickers ( when fit ) both very capable of playing there.

Is it better for him to be on the bench for 1st team & play mainly for U21's / Dual reg side ( bear in mind he is only 17 ) but played in his more natural position when the situation requires or is any first team football regardless of position more beneficial?... ( strictly from his angle not the team for the moment ) Assume like most players of his age he is keen to play anywhere.

Also is Bryce at RB and Rose at LB any better than the current situation in particular? wonder if Jahmahl could do full back positions if required?!

A third defensive option is to have Sam Adams at RB with Taser ahead of him but then how much of his attacking prowess and assists would you lose?

IMO i think he has done fine personally all things considered.
