After another defeat - last Tuesday against Redhill - we will now face a huge task against
Last season we could just finish before them and they ended at place 6 in the table; just outside the Play Offs.
We played against Burgess Hill 3 times last season; in the League we played 20-08-2013 away and drew 1-1 ( goal Crone ) and home we won for a crowd of 400 on 28-12-2013 3-2. We were 0-2 behind but at the end we won it in injury time ( goals McCreadie,Vickers and Ellis ) On a cold Monday evening on 27-1-2014 we lost at home for the Sussex Senior Cup 0-1.
This season the Hilians won 2 and drew 2 of their League games so they are now on place 5th in the table.
They play their homegames The Green Elephant Stadium, Leylands Park, Maple Drive, Burgess Hill, Sussex RH15 8DL
And we ? Already a lot of discussions on the Forum what is going wrong but with Terry back in charge let's hope for a quick response. It is a crucial game already now for the team. A win will give confidence, a draw signs of improvement and a defeat... yeah you can all guess what that means.
More important is maybe the efforts the team will bring into this game. A 100% commitment must bring better days !
If I could ( which I don't think I can ) I would, tough test but decent club to visit, not the worst by a long stretch ) although I certainly wouldnt reccomend their food after last years frozen hotdogs & burgers!
Need a positive reaction from the players and hopefully there will be one! Does JJ's suspension kick in already for this one?

Concerned about this one. BH are a strong team that have gone through a bit of behind the scenes turmoil pre-season, which can only make them stronger after they dumped some of the more despotic characters at their club.
I would have preferred an easier one for us to attempt to re-start our season, BUT the local rivalry might have an even more positive effect on us.
Appalling pathetic useless gutless, players let club down, terry seems incapable of sorting the mess out, and the chairman seems unable to find a decent manager, we are where we deserve to be 2nd bottom.
Well....looks like another very bad day at the office......we're certainly not going to win much conceding goals at this rate.
Given our humiliating defeat, it seems that just about every significant result went against and so, tonight, we find ourselves rather gloriously in 23rd place with just the hapless Walton beneath us. Great !
Never mind...on Monday we can have a thrilling relegation battle against Hythe....hopefully on a wet surface. I can't wait !
23rd in the league, 3 defeats in a row, 8 league defeats in last 12 and 14 league defeats in 28games since new management took over. It's only early doors though, they need more time, the new players need time to gel, let's look at it a dozen games in. Think I've covered all the excuses. I'm sorry but I don't care how early it is, the club is a shambles and has been for way too long now. Defeat at home to Hythe or at Eastbourne in the Fa Cup and the management have to go
I totally understand your frustration, John, but actually should we be not be pointing our fingers at the players rather than at the management ?
I mean, I honestly thought that we had strengthened the squad... a squad that reached the play-offs last season. (OK it was by the skin of our teeth and I can count the times we actually played WELL last season on the fingers of one hand but we were still one of the better sides overall, weren't we ?)
But....Hey !.....This season we've got Ray and King at the heart of our defence...no-one will get past them ! We've added quality in Rose to this defence and we now have the prolific goal scorer Cook in midfield alongside the back-in-form Dolan. We've held on to Frankie and have added another proven goal scorer in Ade. Surely this HAS to be a better set of players, doesn't it ?
I spoke to DW before the season and he certainly thought that we had spent the money we needed to in order to put together a league winning squad.....and at the time I couldn't disagree with him.
However you can't dispute our league position and, although I have missed these latest two defeats, there's not too much doubt that collectively we have deserved to be beaten and have been pretty poor for a number of games now.
So...are the management to blame...or do we have good enough players who are simply under performing ?
The management are not capable of getting it out of the players, you don't need 5 on the bench, today we had tw and bw standing and Nk shouting to the players as well, what a shambles We need 2 plus a physio and 5 subs on the bench, if we need the other 3 for whatever reason they should watch from the stand.
I think Mick has make a point here. The squad seems better balanced then last year except one or two places in the team who we all can see where the problems are.
The team played in the pre-season some good games; had a decent start and now lost 3 times. The players have to i think - like Mick said - why they under-perform !
Or do we have the quality squad we all believe we have but the wrong management team in place to bring the best out of them. 14 defeats in 28 league games and over 30 players used we can't keep saying that it's just the players fault. They are under achieving yes, but the record since Maggs was sacked is quite simply shocking and nothing is improving. I have also spoke to DW in the past and as well as promotion he wants to see entertaining football but its getting worse. We were told that Taser was one of the two best wingers in the league but he's not started a game, Frankie is constantly played up top on his own, still no left back, just 2 out and out strikers at the club, one of those the injury prone Ade, is this the players fault? The players need to take responsibility but the buck stops with the management as their record since they took over is abysmal with the resources they have been given.
Horrible to see us dropping off the pace so early on. The squad put together over the summer impressed me so much, and having all the dealings done before the season got underway gave Terry the chance to work with them all. The players have to take some blame, but the management should be getting the best out of them as well. Tactically I've seen no change at all from last season, and the football seems worse (Basing that on the 3 games I've seen this season). Monday could well be the nail in the coffin for TW .
I'd usually say keep the faith, we'll have to do it the hard way. But nothing suggests that at this moment in time we can improve unless a huge Improvement happens, and quickly.
Too soon to pull the plug on the management for Christ's sake, it's not even September yet. I see Chrisb has crawled out of his hole again looking for allies in his constant attacks on the club. Let's give the squad a chance to gel before we reach for the knives.
But Steve, 7 friendlies and 5 league games they should now be starting to gel. If performances were improving I would feel a lot happier but they are getting worse each game. Whitstable, Redhill and Sittingbourne all have completely new sides but they seem to have gelled ok. How much more money can we throw at it before it all runs out and we end up in the county league.
first thing first Burgess Hill are a very very good team and think they will easy finish in play off at least. but i thought i would be saying that about Hastings but we are very poor. I think on paper that we have stronger side than last year like other say. But they dont look up for it and no fight and not sure they know where or how they mean to play. that is a management thing agree the bench is like picadilly circus what do they all do? to many messages maybe but it shambolic. Ben White said on Observer website that they have good character and good experience. wrong, there is no experience on management team except Kane who got us promoted before. the whites are out of the depth it look like and players dont look as if they want to play for them. lots of thing have been done badly, the falling out with Sean Kelly last year our best player at start of season and a good local player we need now. still no left back what is wrong with managers Maggs dont sort it nor white and both had long enough. falling out with Pogue and getting A Olorunda back when he is old and pass it and not fit enough to play so we end up with a 5ft 6 striker playing as target man. substitutions a joke it goes on and on but think we need manager with experience, good man mangement skills and get rid of all dead wood on bench.
fa cup next week and Eastbourne U won 7 1 today against gatwick and bailo scored, another guy Whites could not manage. think Eastbourne U favourites next week.
Steve the best performance was the 1st game, I have kept quiet for the reason that people like you wear blinkers, it is clear to most of us that something other than gelling is wrong. JohnW has made similar criticism but you choose to have a dig at me. To the majority of the people that read the forum it says more about you than me. You are also so blinkered that you don't understand most clubs are in a similar position to us with as many new players so gelling is not an excuse. Does being chairman of the suppoters club stop you from putting forward a balanced view.
Not having been to the last couple of away games I want to know if the goals have come from individual mistakes in the main or from tactical issues causing the defence and mid to be overrun? Hard to really tell from Twitter.
Today wasn't really mistakes 2 exceptional goals, but general lethargy and being 2nd to the ball especially in the 2nd half. But we don't seem to be able to create chances, and Frankie cuts a lonely figure up front.
So, is the general consensus that we DO have good enough players (so surely credit to Terry and co for that) but that we are falling down on the following :
Preparation
Teamwork (i.e. "Gellling !")
Tactics
Substitutions
Motivation
Individual errors
I presume we feel our fitness levels are Ok, do we ?
My personal opinion is that lack of team work combined with individual errors are the biggest problem. Poor results inevitably lead to a drop in confidence and that is perceived as a lack of motivation...which is unfair on management. I don't deny we have been VERY disappointing so far but surely we must give EVERYONE more time...at least another 7 matches.
In our last promotion year, I believe we were in a similar position at this stage....so let's not push the panic button yet.
I don't consider being constantly negative towards the club as balanced. I don't think getting rid of the management this early would be a good thing. I am as disappointed as anyone with the results as you can see from previous posts but I don't see how panicking will help.
I wonder if any of you who wee there could fathom out our 1st half tactics, lone striker shortest player on pitch give it too him in the air, then winder why we didn't create a chance my guess is players know tactics are wrong and they have no confidence in management team. Cant comment on 2nd half tactics as they would have changed after 10minutes owing to concession of goals. But did we have any !!!!
i get point not to panic and it might be to early to get rid but worry is tactics and management not able to see the blinding obvious, you cant play a short striker up front on his own. seen 3 games that happen and poor frankie getting more and more frustrated. other players look frustrated to, johnson was not happy yesterday when he had to play at back, Tas must be scratching his head why he is not starting and showed when he came on. need a fit striker soon (get Pogue back) who can form a consistant partnership with Frankie up top. get rid Olorunda or just use him as sub on off chance he is fit. last season we scored not enough goals and this season look like we will score even less. Defence look strong in middle but once again lack of full back for 2nd season will cost us. Masters is not good enough, 2 more goals he cost us yesterday. none of this is rocket science people all say same things but management dont see it? stick to same formation just play 4 4 2 and stop chop and change, how can players gel when always a change of system, formation players played out of position. i want to watch decent football not the Whites comedy show. having written this maybe should panic cos lot of this has been going on for to long including this time last year when we were short on full backs and strikers. a whole year later we say same thing.
