Kick off 3.07pm
Kick off delayed in remembrance of the Hillsborough Disaster

Hastings United will try to get 3 points against the current nr. 15 in the table Horsham. Horsham.jpg

The West Sussex side won last Wednesday away to Eastbourne Town 2-0 and drew last Saturday 1-1 against Corinthian Casuals.

This is their home ground: Woodside Road, Worthing FC    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3VMNbAvpSM9ZWBeBVj4JjN_-YVI8WmmK5kxAhPQTcsKXibVvU7A

Top scorer is Jamie Cade with 14 goals.

And Hastings ? After the very different half’s against Sittingbourne let’s hope that Terry White’s team will play more like the second half then the first one!

Luckily Merstham lost also but Burgess Hill won their last game so it is very tensed regarding to the play-off places.

Hopefully some key players will return to the squad after injury problems.

On October 26 we won our home game 2-1. Goals from Olorunda and a own goal by King.

So who will make the 55 mile trip to The Hornets?

Following Johns report I understand we are having a boxing ring built in the away changing room. It is also hoped this might tempt Kelly back.

Hi Bert,

I'm pretty certain that the picture is not Horsham's home ground. It doesn't even look like their previous home ground so I'm not sure what it is a picture of.

That stand looks like it belongs at quite a decent non-league football venue.......I can assure that's not what we're visiting on Saturday.

Yeah...that looks more like it , Bert.
The other one is definitely a different venue altogether because your second picture is of the main and only seating stand at Horsham...the former YMCA ground.
Sadly I won't make the game on Saturday but reckon we'll come away with something !

The first picture was Worthings ground I believe Bert, I will say your knowledge of our league is hundreds of times better than mine of the Dutch equivelant.

I seem to remember Horsham playing their home games at Worthing prior to moving to YMCA's old ground. That might explain the first picture if it was taken a few seasons ago.

I don't know about the supporters coach, perhaps we should be taking the rollercoaster for the end of season run-in games!!

The next few games are going to be nerve jangling... but exciting!

Oh well less than 24 hrs to the next installment of "carry on Hastings United " wonder what the star turn will be? Who will turn up? Who will play? Who wants to play? Who will pick the team? We can only wait and see but as we are going to a Christian establishment lets hope we behave.

The observer says Timmy wont be fit until Tuesday. Corrigan wont play ahead of Bachellier and im guessing new signing Barry West might slot in along side Ben.

Unless we get something from our very difficult away games,I think we will be out of the play offs on the final day. What a sad state of affairs.A complete and utter shambles.I actually hope we don't make the play offs anyway,I think we could do without further embarassment

Another pathetic performance no tactics, no organization and 10 headless chicken. We have 4 coaches+ DW and do any know what they are doing. Come on some of you players we are told you read this board tell the fans what is really going on as we know you are better than what we are getting. We hear of fights, damage to changing rooms yet no one speaks out WHY?

I agree conquest1, wasn't at the game today, but if the reports come back bad,(which would be no surprise)
then I really think it would be better if we didn't make the play-offs, the thought of those truly loyal supporters
making long journeys just to be disappointed isn't good is it?
We would be better off thinking of next year and getting out of this s*** league as champions

Just before today's game a well respected Hastings supporter told me this was the worst Hastings team he had seen in 40 years of supporting them. I actually disagreed. After today's utterly mind-numbing, disgraceful, pitiful defeat, you know what? I still disagree and ill tell you why.

Someone please tell me how a club of Hastings size, with money to spend, lying comfortably in the play off positions goes in to the final quarter of the season with one defender at the club? When appointed, TW and everyone at the club knew that the number one priority had to be two full backs. Everybody at the club also knew JJ was heading back to America and cover was required. So what the hell has been going on? I understand the main reason Maggs was sacked was because he didn't spend money and didn't bring in the right players. if so it has to be Taxi for Terry. Is it really fair to blame 36 year old Judge for having a different midfielder along side him every game? is it fair to blame Adams and Crutwell , who are both playing out of position. We have two central midfielders in Darby and Ellis who have barely put together a good 90mins since early season. Who do we bring in as cover? Ferguson, who apart from the odd nice touch clearly has the look of a typical loanee who thinks he way to good for this level. He prances around showing no heart for the team whatsoever. Who scouts these players? Who is doing our transfer dealings? Whoever it is they need sacking now!

And then todays tactics. With two small forwards in Frankie and Trevor coming up against two of the biggest, meanest, toughest defenders your likely to see, surely the last thing you want to do his hoof long, aimless balls on to their heads. Not Hastings! from the first to the last minute that's all they tried to do. What about plan B? Lets bring up Crutwell for every throw in and toss the ball 30 yards straight into the arms of the7ft tall Horsham keeper. You couldn't make it up. But I tell you what, our only shining light of the first half, Taser, who is causing a few problems down the right,  lets switch him to left wing where he is less effective. It was clueless football.

The game itself, not even worth a mention, it was that poor, ill let someone else waste there time on that, but is this really the worst ever Hasting team? no its not in my opinion. Its down to non existent signings in the positions we need them, poor signings elsewhere, no leadership on or off the pitch, players choosing work over playing, fights in the changing room, low numbers at training sessions, players not able to raise their game for the management, players playing out of position..... the list goes on and on. TW has ranted on the touchline, he has ranted in the papers and on camera. He sends his teams out early 2nd half, he bollox them during and after the game. IT AINT WORKING!!!! I don't care if there are 4 or 5 games left, we need a change. The football is abysmal, the heart has gone from all at the club including, saddest of all, the supporters, who deserve so much more. Or we could listen to people like Hastings Fisherman who talk out their backside saying everything is great and 3rd place is nailed on. Where the hell do we go from here????

This pretty much sums it up from the Horsham Forum.

Good performance from all the team today, again we were thwarted from seeing  a goal fest by the opposition MOM Josh P.

Glad we have players that are proud to where the HFC shirt and give 100% every game.

Thought the Eastbourne game on Wednesday was one sided but Hastings were even less of a threat.

Well played by Horsham who ran out worthy 2-0 winners.

Hastings hardly got a look in and seemed a million miles away from a top five spot.
More importantly, there will be no further nonsense of relegation talk.
A nice relaxing end to the season.

Well, as most know I am a 'glass half full' kind of chap and always look for the silver lining. Also being a Millwall fan, I am quite capable of loving a team that always loses! So what positives can I bring to the table? Sweet FA. The side is a disgrace, pure and simple.
I backed them 100% after the home defeats to Peacehaven and Guernsey - losses but good spirit and lots good football, a couple of decent signings and we would have looked like a decent clu, even a division up. So what happened? Several decent signings later we have, at best, a side of decent individuals playing for themselves o just as often, not playing at all, just turning up and getting through the 90 minutes any way they can. Some exceptions + Josh in goal, Ben, Pogue new boy
Tas, one or two others but even they play mostly alone. Tactics? None that I can see. Defence? It would shame the county league.

All I can say in favour of the club is that maybe all these players are just being tried out and we have given up on this season and are planning for 2014/2015. In truth I think planning has gone out the window and whoever is calling the shots is sufferring from some delusional mental illness.
Sort this out NOW or next season will be a relegation dog fight in front of crowds of 200.

I haven't supported Hastings anywhere near as long as most of you,its about 4 years, and I have only known battling relegation. But in those times I have seen plenty of effort and reasonably entertaining football.I hardly miss a home game and have enjoyed many games away, but after the Eastbourne game I feel loathed to make the effort anymore. The team looks an absolute mess at the moment and my decision to miss the games against Sittingbourne and Horsham has been justified.Don't deserve a play off place and don't see us getting one

If play offs and Promotion is the target we are taking a very strange way of aiming at it! six weeks ago it looked like a cast iron certainty now we are relying on other teams to slip up!

I think you've hit the nail on the head JohnW. I can't disagree with any of that. I get the impression that none of the team have any respect for, or desire to play for, TW.

This is obvious when the number of players from both the 1st team and U21s combined attending training sessions is lower than the number of players you would need to field a single team. This speaks volumes of the lack of discipline and commitment. A Manager can't manage if the players regard him as 'one of the boys' and his team is picked through favouritism rather than on effort and talent.

Ok yesterday was pitiful again, so something needs to be done by Tues, as it is quite clear the players do not wish to play for the current management team, we clearly aren't going to go up if things stay The same, as TW and his team are clearly far more inadequate than Maggs and his.
DW give all the those on TW management team the sack today. And ask Judge and Adams to take over the team for the last 4 games, hopefully the players may respect these 2 and give 100% . I know it's a gamble and it could go wrong but it can't be any worse than what it is now. I know this sounds outrageous and it is but we have nothing to lose. I would also have Vickers as person in charge on touch line as at least he cares and has given the club 100% in recent weeks when others around him haven't.

That's quite a drastic call at this stage of the season but can't disagree with that Chris.I think it should have been done about 3 weeks ago though.I can't admit to knowing anything about what goes on behind the scenes but what I have seen on the pitch lately needs changing.Every game from now on in appears to be a must win.We are just lucky enough to have our destiny in our own hands

Not sure I can believe that you want to sack the manager Chris when all along you have been calling the club a laughing stock for doing exactly that in the past. You also said earlier on in this thread that you thought the players were better than what we are getting - yet many times you have said in the past that most of them are not good enough? That doesn't make sense. One observation I would make is that apart from a few players on our side, Horsham clearly wanted it more and I think that is the issue that needs to be addressed by the management. Sacking the management team in my opinion is not the right answer. We have been plagued by injuries to key players with very little resource to dip into - a problem we have had from limited signings. A defence that is propped up by young players who are doing their best but are in the deep end. They will come to be great assets in time though.Yet we are still in it and I think we can still get a play off place. Building for next season is key regardless of how we finish this season. My opinion - I know some will disagree but that's football.

Building for next season get real, how many will want to play for this club? Lets face it a fair few are only here for the money. And unless the money is more than anywhere else they wont be back next season. Sacking managers was only 1 of the reasons i gave why we are a laughing stock. I also don't believe there was 1 player playing yesterday that i have said wasn't good enough. I may be wrong but i don't believe i am. Pat they are not always doing there best. The prime example is those 2 long throws from Crutwell, he threw them straight to there keeper. If our management were doing there job there would be a plan for those throws, but there appears not to be one.
Going back to the sacking a manager if your team doesn't perform or entertain then a sacking is justified and from what i have seen lately we are doing neither. Finally we are short of players because either they wouldn't come to us or we didn't go looking for them. Both alternatives are a reflection of poor management.

Get real? You can't post without going on the offensive can you? If someone disagrees you go into a tirade. If we don't give young players a breakthrough we will never grow our own talent. Our previous manager had more time than Terry to sign players and I'm not aware of many that didn't want to play for us for any other reason than distance. I'm not saying it's all rosy either as it's clear that there is an issue but let's get some perspective here. In my opinion which I respectfully agree to differ with you- the management need to sort it out without constant calls for them to be sacked. If Terry feels that a change in playing staff is needed then I'm sure he will do it at the end of the season which is the appropriate time.

Clubs at our level do not build from a strong youth set up, it doesn't happen like that in lower non league, you take a season at a time and have a squad of players to get you to the next level. As for going on the offensive Lenny said i didn't explain my thoughts and arguments and when i do his sidekick says the opposite. How many in our squad of 16 yesterday will be with us next season? I reckon assuming we don't go up it will be 4 max.

I'll ignore the offensive sidekick remark and move on.im not sure that saying " get real " explains an argument either.  I disagree about clubs at our level not building from a strong youth set up. I think we have to - especially given the difficulty of attracting players from outside the county. I will agree about the amount of players - I'd keep 5 or maybe 6 but whatever level you have to start thinking about next season and who you would keep or release. Also who your targets would be in the transfer market. That's the early part of the planning phase. You don't just turn up in July and say "who will we sign this season?". You have trial lists for sure but you also should have made a few signings and agreed terms with some.

Don't get me wrong i agree about having a good youth set up, but i also believe that the players you get from it are usually going to be for 2 seasons max as they are either too good and move on or they just choose to go elsewhere, or they don't progress. We have to accept that most of the decent youth players go to BHA, and with our current status as a 16yo why would you select us over Eastbourne B, Maidstone, Lewes etc.

Agree about BHA but not sure that young players from Hastings would travel as far as Lewes or Maidstone. EB maybe. But if you are correct about planning one season at a time then we would at least get them for a season before they progress or move on.
