Life certainly hasn't been dull for new United boss Terry White in his first few days in situe, with strengthening a somewhat threadbare playing squad being the main focus of his attention, whilst working on additions to his backroom team, and fitting in the not insignificant matter of a Sussex Senior Cup defeat at home to Burgess Hill Town.
White was joined in the dugout on Monday by Under 21s manager Ben White, and later confirmed that he has been in talks with one of his predecessors in the U's hotseat, Nigel Kane, over the First Team coaching vacancy. Kane led the Club to promotion through the Division One South play-offs in May 2007, but left the Pilot Field by mutual consent before the year was out.
On the playing side, centre back Josh Jorbandey has re-signed for United, a little over a year since departing for the sunnier climes of California. He signed off with a goal in the last of his 166 appearances for the Club against Wealdstone on January 8, 2013, and initially joined Premier Division side Lewes upon his return to the UK for a few months, but has now had his Ryman League registration switched back to the Pilot Field.
Another player on his way back to the Club is midfielder Tom O'Connor, who scored once in five appearances in a claret and blue shirt at the beginning of the season, when White was in caretaker charge of First Team affairs. The Bromley man generally found himself surplus to requirements after John Maggs' appointment and eventually linked up with Cray Wanderers, again on a dual registration arrangement with the Conference South side. White has acted swiftly though, in tempting O'Connor to rejoin the U's for the remainder of the season.
Josh Oyinson completes a trio of signings, the twenty year old striker following his Bromley team-mate O'Connor to the Pilot Field, having similarly spent some time at Cray this season. He also won a place at the 2013/14 Nike Football Academy, where ex-professional and one time Stamco forward Jimmy Gilligan is Head Coach.
White has also persuaded Andy Corrigan to remain at the Club for the time being, the full back having announced his intention to seek First Team football elsewhere after missing out on a starting place at Leatherhead last Saturday, despite the absence of two of the U's regular back four. Although named on the bench once again on Monday, Corrigan did make his first appearance since December 3 as a second half substitute and will remain very much in contention for this weekend's league fixture at home to Faversham Town.
So this is a very good start ! I think Terry has now 3 more options and Josh and Tom already played for the club.
Josh (2) Oyinson hopefully can aid some goals !
Corrigan is good news but i think Terry must have promised him something otherwise why should he stay.
So let's go for a new start.
Also mentions that he has no knee cartilage left after ACL and MCL injurys! Shame for the lad as he does sound like he could have been a decent player in scotland
Good Grief. He could be a useful addition in all honesty. He now has inside information on practically every opponent we are likely to face in the next few seasons!
Terry White is on the hunt for more players despite recruiting four in his first week as Hastings United manager.
New boys Josh Jirbandey, Tom O’Connor, Josh Oyinsan and Frankie Sawyer all played a part in the 2-1 victory at home to Walton & Hersham on Monday night.
White said: “There’s a possibility that more are going to come. I’ve put a seven-day letter in for a midfield player in our league with an extremely good goalscoring record. I just think we need a bit more threat offensively.
“But I’m not going to sign players willy nilly because I think it looks good for the supporters or the board. I need someone that’s going to improve the squad. The chairman has been absolutely first class; I can’t speak highly enough of how helpful he’s been.
“I’m absolutely delighted with the signings. There’s a nice bit of competition for places and it’s good to know that we’ve got some decent cover all around the pitch, but people have got to understand it’s going to take me a little while.”
White added that Sawyer will come strongly into contention for a starting place if the trip to Sittingbourne on Saturday beats the weather. He also said that he’s reluctant to give O’Connor, 17, too many games in quick succession and that Sean Kelly is having a little bit of trouble with his hip.
Fourth-placed United are due to visit fifth-placed Folkestone Invicta in Ryman Division One South on Tuesday night.
I know he's a winger and hasn't scored many goals but I'd love to see Taser Hussein from Hythe come in. He's probably one of the best wingers I've seen at this level.

Right club , wrong player. Hythe have only got one midfielder that scores any goals so its not hard to work out. When you do that's the player you put in a 7 dayer for.
Thanks for trying to point that out Ryeman but I know who I was on about I just wasn't sure if he's still at Hythe or not as he went to America. Their website says he is. I know who we put a 7 day letter in for and I know it certainly wasn't the player I was thinking of but thanks again.

Yeh Hassan is a decent player, was it not Turkey he went to , somewhere like that. As for the player you put a 7 dayer in for , if you know who it is then you'll know its irrelevant now as it seems you've lost out to Ashford for his signature.
Someone from Hythe said he'd gone to the states I know he's had a spell at LA Galaxy, both players we are both on about played last night one scoring and the other setting up the second.
Good to see Charlie Bachellier is back and playing for the Under 21's - though he looked a good prospect and not at all out of place when playing for the first Team last year.
Personally I don't think he's any better than what we have already. He's normally a centre midfield player but has previously played centre half for our reserves and u18 squads. Not an option in my opinion.
Just never worked out for him here, came with a good rep but never showed the assists and goalscoring he was known for at Hythe.
So Ashford are getting ambitious again?.. Dolan will be a good signing and Dave Cook is a great signing. Just hope they don't go bust again as would be a decent local derby if they make it back to our level. How many leagues are they below us? One?
If they go under and results expunged we would loose six points, not a good situation to be in but then I'm not sure how clubs above us would fair either? I would think they'd see the season out to be honest as its a very hefty fine in the region of £1000 for withdrawing from the league I believe.
A board statement taken from their website.....
Following a board meeting at Reachfields last evening (24th February), the Board have released this statement:
In common with many other football clubs, Hythe Town FC have been experiencing decreasing revenues which has been caused by both the current economic climate and the recent spell of poor weather. Countless postponements have led to a full programme of midweek games, but these will strain playing resources and can mean a drop of anything up to 50% in match receipts. Supporters also need to know that the quality of players seen at Reachfields in recent seasons are funded by a variety of sources, and when those sources diminish, players with families and mortgages will look to increase their incomes elsewhere whether it be inside or outside football.
It is no secret that our playing budget has had to be reduced somewhat, but we are still confident that in this transitional season our remaining players and management team will pull things round so that we can all look forward to a more successful time next season. It is not the club's style to be asking for donations but we do appeal to all supporters to turn up in good numbers (and voice) for our remaining fixtures, and also for some fund raising events we will be holding. The first of these is a "Race Night" at the Hythe Imperial on Saturday March 15th, full details to follow on our website and in our match programmes.
Finally, we would like to thank both of our latest departures, Dave Cook and Pat Kingwell, for the fantastic service they have given the club. We would also like to take the opportunity to remind supporters that both Craig Thompson and Craig Cloke are back at Reachfields and ready to do battle for us all! We hope to see as many of our supporters as possible, this Saturday, when we face Sittingbourne at Reachfields, kick-off 3pm.

Top of the Kent League (or the Southern Counties League as it's now called) with four games in hand over 2nd place Tunbridge Wells. Think it's safe to say we'll be playing them next season if we don't go up.
As long as their ground grading is up to it and of course they've applied for promotion Leon. Knowing how finicky the Fa are over grading it's not a given.

Promotion has been applied for and apparently plans for the little work that needs to be done to attain ground grading are in place. Think their only real rivals for promotion are Whyteleafe.
Good to hear, you know how picky the Fa can be, we had a small tare in a physio bench and they picked up on that. Thankfully nothing major came up and we moved up a grade after the minor things were done.
Its a good job they don't check the B&H stand as we call it, in front of the bar/club house. There has been a bloody great hole in the plastic roof all season. Would probably cost all of a tenner to buy a new piece of plastic and get it fixed. Have a word with DW Barry
Zac Atwood did that at a reserve match last season, we did have that down to repair and a number of other things have taken a priority. I'll make a mental note though.
Not major losses from their complete lack of breaking into a small squad but you never know and Sod's law they'll prob both score against us now I've said this!
If that's true about Ramsgate shouldn't Terry be back in there with another offer for Tom Chapman? A winger, quick, skilful, scores goals, just what we need. Maggsy couldn't tempt him, can Terry?
Amen to that John, dont think is was geographical issues with him either rather that he thought he would get higher level interest which obviously hasn't happen. Would be a great signing if at all possible.
Must agree with John there. Would be an excellent signing if we can pull it off. Could be just what we need, especially when Bailo isn't available due to work committments!
Would prefer us to look at up and coming u21s players to cover Baillo before we lose any more and end up with a smaller back up squad. After all, that's all part of their development and one of the criticisms of Maggsy was that he didn't do enough of that with an example being young Sam.
Fair point, Chapman did look a talent though. Did you have any U21's apart from
Sam in mind Hamilton? Haven't been able to watch one of their games in ages so don't know who would be able to break through?
I can't see anyone capable of covering Bailo from the U21's personally. I reckon if any of them are to break through then we should look towards next season. Wooders is the stand out player capable when he plays for them but obviously needs to get fitter. Chapman was a superb when we played them and would be a great move but as Dan eluded to and I have in the past it's a geographical stumbling block that won't see him come to us.
We have some good prospects who have played at levels above Ryman South, but the 21s have been as much victims of the recent bad weather and lack of matches, if not more so, as their matches aren't scheduled for every week.
I have mentioned Kamran Glen before, who is a winger that can play left or right. He came through a Premiership Club Academy and has played in non-league at Conference Premier and Southern League Premier level. He is a more than capable 18 year old.
There is a CB currently training with us (not yet signed though) called Acer Wake who is an 18/19 year old who I think will be a top talent in the future. A big lad with a big future who has a similar background to Kamran.
We should remember some of the better non-league players we would like to join us or wish would come back were only 17/18/19 when we first saw them. They did well because they were given an opportunity to make several match appearances and show their ability. That doesn't just mean a quick 10 minutes at the end of a match as a one-off chance. (Look at Sam and how old was JJ when he first played for us?)
I find Woody a bit frustrating. His ability and talent is clearly there for everyone to see but I worry that his fitness levels shows a lack of desire. He could be a top player if he would just address his fitness issues and to do that he has got to want it.

Good shout Stevie he was solid and git sent off against us. I think he's been at Horsham a few years now and given that and the sending off I doubt he'll come to us. He's certainly the stature of player we need though.
Hastings United are targeting three players in an effort to step up their promotion bid.
The U’s lie fourth in Ryman Football League Division One South with 15 games remaining.
United manager Terry White said: “All three are very good players. One’s an old favourite shall we say with a good recent history at the club. One is what I would describe as one of the best two wingers in our league and one is a third year pro who’s just been released from his club, but he’s talking to other clubs in his area.
“Two are looking promising, but until they actually sign the bit of paper that says ‘yes I’m coming’, they’re still ‘no goes’.”
Josh Jirbandey has decided to remain at United despite a seven-day approach from Kingstonian, although the defender will return to university in California at the start of next month.
I for one would like to see Sean back.Whatever people think of him, clubs need players that wear their heart on their sleeve. With the defensive situation as it is at the moment we could really do with his experience for the run-in. Bring on Taser AND Razor!
