If you had to pick one player who appeared in 2013 ( any time Jan - Dec 2013 only ) who would you have picked as the player of 2013?.... basically 2 different squads so not that easy as just picking player of the season!
Ben Judge i think for me overall, consistent last season, unbelievably so this season!
For me it would be a toss up between Josh Pelling or Sam Adams, Josh has got us out of some close calls and always has a good game, and Sam just seems to be so consistent, and give his all.
Very tricky question, Judgey has been solid in every game and you can see why he's played at a higher level, Josh has also been solid had some very good performances and been very impressive with his handling especially in the wet, Sam has got better as the season has gone on, Matt Darby started at a blistering pace and I honestly thought he would be the stand out player of the season, I don't think you can overlook Vickers though since his return he's been sublime down the left and if he can focus his temperament and avoid bookings he could well be player of the season.
Tough choice but a nice one having so many players having a good season.
Not player of the year as such but think that Liam O'Brian in his few appearances probably had the biggest impact in the games he did play as any player i've seen, what a keeper at this level he was.
Expect to see him play in League 1 for Brentford at some point this year if he hasn't already.
Sammy has always been one of my favourite players but funny enough I disagree with my old mate Barry as I think Sam has struggled for form over the past half a dozen games. So has to be Josh for me. Watched him in 2 pre season friendlies and he looked absolutely dreadful. Like Dracula with crosses and his kicking was awful. But he has clearly worked his socks off and i cannot remember even one error from him this season. He has been outstanding........closely followed by Ray Freeman.
Here's my opinion !
Josh and Ben are the two players who stand out for consistency. A lot of our early season points were down to these two and, along with Sean at the back, gave us a great start. Matt, Sam and Tim have been solid and industrious rather than spectacular. But it's Danny and Tom who are currently most influential and I'd happily go for either of these. Trevor will be competing with these two for Player of the Season come the end of April.
Oh how the memories fade! If we are looking at the year 2013 as a whole, although we would all like to forget the end of the season, there were some stalwart performances by quite a few players who featured significantly in the portion of the 2012/13 season which fell into 2013. Some of those remain at the Club, notably Ben Judge and Danny Ellis, the latter, if my memory serves me right, was player of the season. Sadly, Bradley Goldberg did not feature too long into 2013, but his contributions for those weeks before his injury were memorable, particularly in the cup run. Prior to his departure Josh Jirbandey was, in my humble opinion, someone who could have challenged for player of the season, and the most consistent player was probably Elliot Cox. There are a number of contenders from the current crop of players too, but a 12 month perspective should not exclude those currently plying their trade elsewhere
