Supporters will be able to choose their own admission price when Hastings United entertain Walton & Hersham in the new year.
There will be no admission costs as such for the match on Monday February 3 and instead supporters will be asked to pay what they want.
This one-off move has come about because the Ryman Football League Division One South fixture was abandoned after 61 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch on Monday December 16. United were leading a thoroughly entertaining affair 3-1 at the time, but the controversial abandonment meant the game had to be rearranged.
United director Simon Rudkins said: “We have had to seek approval for this from the Ryman League and our opponents Walton & Hersham. Both are happy with our suggestion so long as we pay their expenses and the only other expense we will seek to recover aside from their travel will be paying for match officials. So anything extra that supporters pay on the night we would like to donate to St Michael’s Hospice.”
That's a nice touch,,,,,, I pledge to pay £1 for every goal scored by us between now and this game ,,,,with a minimum amount of £5 ,,,,,now its down to the team to break my bank

Happy New Year.
If you had said Ronaldo I would have been worried ...Messi wouldn't hack it in this league HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !
What a good intelligent move by the club. It deserves full endorsement and wide publicity. Moves such as this can only enhance the club's reputation and support in the town and wider afield. Lenny's pledge is an excellent one too!
fantastic gesture and i will pay the normal £10. have had family member in the hospice and the care was great hard to believe it is a charity which deserves support and very pleased the club feel the same. well done Hastings United hope a lot is raise
I've been as quick as anyone to criticise the DW regime down the years - but this is an excellent move and a pat on the back to the Ryman League for waving it through. Even if you can't be there, find a way to support this.
I will pay 50p and put donate rest direct to hospice. After reading observer site yesterday my anger at having to pay £10 for a game we couldn't win has been fuelled further.
It is a bit of a silly mistake, but surely the player himself must take the blame, he not only knows that he has played earlier in the completion, but he did it before. The club could have made a genuine mistake but he should not have done, not twice surely.
Agree Rev. Just a simple error. Don't think I can get a blood pressure problem over it. The player really should have known, especially having done it twice!
Once is a mistake (and we're all guilty of making mistakes at some point in our lives), but making the same simple error twice is absurd! He must have known after being pulled up for it last time.
He's a good quality future player but he needs to start learning some common sense. Luckily there is no major damage done. Although it could be an expensive fine or sanction, depending on how the authorities view it.
I guess that with the ridiculous number of cups and leagues that young footballers play in these days it is easy to see how it happened. Maybe the authorities could put together a website that clubs can use to see who has played in which competition. It would only cost a couple of minutes wages for a premiership team.
I take your point FatherXmas and simplifying the system would be the preferred option. However, in my experience it can be done with a simple phone call to the local FA or League to check, or even liaising with previous clubs. There aren't that many Cups that a player can't remember which he has played in and for who. I know that if I had made a mistake before, as a player I would be making a note of which ones, for who and when. The club may not be fully aware but a player should definitely be aware.
There lies the problem Hamilton, with the lad playing for 4 separate sides (ok, 3 being under our club) he has obviously got confused in what cups he has and hasn't played in. I know that when a youngster gets a call from the 1st team manager saying you're in the squad they won't stop and think what competition it is they're playing in. I'm not making excuses for Shelts but as I said playing in so many sides obviously has a part to play in it. Let's be honest two teams from the same league playing anyone could of been forgiven we were playing a league game.
From what I understand Terry did question his eligibility and a mistake was made. We are all human and all make mistakes, no one has died because of the mistake, we will get a fine and will move on. Ok could of been annoying if we'd of won but we didn't and I'm certain that if we hadn't of had so many injuries then Shelts would most probably of not been in the squad so the real question is why has our squad been allowed to get so thin? That's not Terry's fault but I'm sure as he'll sure he's working on that.
that is annoying and embarasing. surely the club i guess secretary should check that. i think it is good we lost then because it would have been worse to be chucked out
As I said Peter its a mistake and the secretary does a brilliant job, not many have the wealth of experience as he does and to my knowledge it's the first time in recent years that we've had an issue like this. Thankfully the mistake is in a pointless cup that most clubs would rather do without.
Origanlly when Sean Ray was in charge the U21's were going to play the early rounds, it was John Maggs who changed that idea.
This is a confusing thread .i don't read our local doom n gloom paper so not sure what has occurred .I'm assuming we have played an illegal player ? But why is this on this thread ? I'm totally confused ...I thought this thread was meant to be about promoting the clubs admission fees for Monday ?

I was a bit confused about that Windy, but if you see the quote above from ChrisB you will see how one led to the other!
So it looks it will be dry today and tomorrow so the match looks to go on.
I sign for a 3-1 victory. That was the result after 61 minutes when the game was abandonment.
After a lot of discussions this week hopefully this match will be the start of a new beginning.
Not sure about the numbers for tonight. We should get a good crowd but it could be lowered by TV game. I hope that it will be over 450 and we get a win.
Thats always the point I thought of at the beginning of the season, with Monday night football. Any ideas if switching to a Monday has really in any way helped attendances?
To answer your question Winchy last season we played 9 Matches on Tuesday/Thursday nights. Average Attendance 353. This season so far we have played 5 matches on Monday nights. Average Attendance 387 This figure is for League Matches only. Having said that I still prefer Tuesday nights.

Ok thanks, I did wonder what the figures are like. If the average attendance is slightly up then that's good
1 Josh Pelling
2 Matt Darby
3 Andy Henson
4 Tim Olorunda
5 Ben Judge
6 Sean Kelly
7 Danny Ellis
8 Sam Adams
9 Kenny Pogue
10 Tom O'Connor
11 Tom Vickers
Subs:
12 Frankie Sawyer
14 Josh Oyinsan
15 Josh Jirbandey
16 Sam Cruttwell
17 Ronnie Dolan
Sorry, can't get excited about that, and if you had been to the moon for a week and not known what had been happening you would have thought nothing had changed. The 2nd half last night was as bad as anything i have seen this season and lets not forget we were playing the team bottom of the form league, No win in 8 and 12 conceded in 3. And before anyone says its only his 2nd game in charge, lets not forget the football was equally dire before Maggs joined. I can understand the new players needing time to gel but for seasoned players such as Sam Adams and Tom Vickers unable to pass a ball 5 yards to feet sometimes beggars belief. Yes, a wins a win but wasn't that one of the reasons why we got rid of Maggs? too many lucky wins and disappointing performances.
The first half was certainly decent and we dominated without setting the world on fire and Walton certainly had their chances. Vickers was superb but we still lacked that bit of bite in front of goal. 2nil up I told my son to expect a 2nd half goal fest . How wrong was I. Yet again, as we have all season, we switched off immediately after half time, conceding a sloppy goal. After this the game was ridiculously open with both midfield's being bypassed by constant long balls and lost possession. Walton certainly had many chances to get back in to the game and in injury time missed two guilt edged chances.
So yes we won, but disappointing yet again. Thought Timmy had a decent game and Vickers was superb 1st half but apart from that very average. Poor old Matt Darby was the next in line to be given a full back slot and disappointed. He is a quality midfielder so please play him there and lets not destroy him playing at right back. And do we have too many people in the dugout? Terry, Ben, Nigel, Stapley, there were people everywhere.
And finally the crowd. what a huge disappointment, not just the numbers but the fact that 275 people could only muster, on average, a couple of quid each for charity. Myself and others that I spoke too paid between 5 and 10 pound so a lot of people seemed to enjoy a free night out. Poor show all round

Good 1st half performance, but yet again we just can't finish teams off. Great defending by JJ at the end too, match winning goal-line clearance. He made a difference when came on.
How many 3 on 2 chances did we spurn in that 2nd half as well?! Still a wins a win and we move clear of the chasing pack.
Poor turnout tonight, expected more to attend. Was it the fact a certain match was on TV last night?
Your right Winchy a win is a win,but don't you feel it would be nice if occasionally we could be entertained for our £10?
Will it be enough in the play-offs when we meet Guernsey or Leatherhead, neither of whom we have manage to beat so far this season?
Money donated in the turnstile last night came to £1041, out of that Walton claimed the maximum of £300 they were allowed to for travel,The officials cost £157 therefore......... £1041 - £457 -------- £584. Donated --------
Officials vary from game to game and the cost of last nights was about average and often are a lot more. In my opinion it would of been charitable if Walton had of waved their expenses however we have to take that this was the third time of them having to come to us, so understandable that they didn't. Donations varied considerably last night from quite a few people paying nothing right up to a number of people paying £20. It must be said that the above figure does not take into consideration the bucket collections that were being done around the ground and the donation that Terry and the players made.
The fact that we could raise the amount we did mustn't be overlooked and no matter how great or small your donation last night a massive thank you to all those who donated to such a worth while cause. I'm sure the money will help.
For 30 minutes Walton didn’t turn up and barely got in our half, let alone muster a shot.
They were there for an absolute drubbing but, as often happens, we totally lost our way. But not because Walton startedto look good and ping the ball about…we simply lost the ability to do the most basic things.
How many opportunities did we have in the second half just to play a simple pass though a high and static defence and how many times did we actually make that pass count ?
Last night was just SO typical of our home performances this season.Three points, Yes, but a performance so low in quality against such ordinary opponents that you can’t help fearing the outcome against anyone decent. Which of course is what has happened a few times recently.
I do think Frankie will be an asset but we HAVE to play football to get him involved. No point hoofing hopeful 50 yard passes at his head.
I assume they must have picked up a bit in the buckets although the people collecting didn't look very enthusiastic though! albeit they were probably frozen solid and possibly had no interest in football though!
I know that one of the collectors was at the Herne Bay game Dan, although its difficult to know everyone who comes through the gate I would think he does have an interest.
The other striker Oyinsan looked a real handful pysically and pretty tall, gives a alternative to Kenny as a 'big' striker as neither Trev or Frankie are that type of striker.
Agree with Mick and John . I guess my surprise was at the formation considering we had just bought in two strikers and we played 4-5-1 from where I stood. It's something to build on though after the last few weeks and lets hope we can. Still need a right and left back as well, as we looked so vulnerable in the flanks. New signings always give hope but as Mick has said - Frankie needs the ball along the floor not 15 feet up in the air. Agreed with MOM and thought Danny took his goal well. JJ saved us a couple of times with very little signs of rust. Had that final pass been better I think we would have romped it.
One final thing though which I'm not going to get precious about but I was aware that a supporter made a bit of a sarcastic dig about me to my 15 year old daughter which rightly bewildered her a bit. Whoever that was, I'm always at home games and most away. You can't miss me, so please come and find me and we can discuss. Dishing it to a 15 year old is a bit of a cowards way out, even if she did laugh it off later
I know KP has scored his fair share of goals this season and probably has done as well as anyone could have hoped but I do hope we get the chance to see Trevor and Frankie together up front before very long. Yes KP works hard but there are games, like yesterday, when his movement, speed of thought, decision making etc. rather expose his lack of real quality. I've said it a hundred times but I'd always rather see him come off the bench for the last 20 when he'll get that extra half yard and WILL get chances.
Agree Mick that Kenny's an impact player. I'm dredging my memory here though but didn't Frankie come off the bench against Folkestone a few years ago and score a Hatrick in the last three minutes? I may be wrong - but I guess my point is that any striker can do this - Kenny has had to start every game as we are so thin on the ground and maybe a rotation of sorts would keep them all mean and keen?
I just cant believe we go into a game with 3 better players on the bench than on the pitch, i know bringing in 4 new players can cause issues, but the more time these players play together surely the better they will gel. With next Tuesday being a huge game for us surely the new players should all have started. Sorry to hear that Pat that is out of order.
I don't know but maybe there was some fitness issues with them or possibly the predicted lack of time training do that they knew how to operate from the start. Much easier to come off the bench if new to a club.
Unfortunately it's the sort of thing that happens at a lot of clubs through the spectrum of football, a new player is signed and starts on the bench. Irish came off with a slight niggle last night and JJ slotted straight back in without looking like he'd been away, I would love to see Trevor and Frankie playing together, Frankie looked superb right from the minute he came on. Did anyone else think that Oyinsan looked to go over a little to easy at times, I hope he's not got a touch of the Brancos about him!
Well we didn't actually see very much of Oyinsan last night but, from what we did see, I wasn't too impressed. However I expect him to be one of those players who gets tagged with the label "mercurial" .....which generally means "a player who is unbelievably useless but on rare occasions does something stunningly brilliant !"
Very funny Mick! yes Lenny he did look to play the game like they do in premiership (diving) and hope it was one off as it is embarassing. also agree Pat it was 4 5 1 but no one got forward quickly to support so Kenny isolated and he not that type of player but he did hold ball up well but then poor delivery. but sign 2 strikers then both on bench and play 1 up front was baffling and negative. we play a team in bad form and we should go for it but no. paid my usual 10 quid last night for hospice and not much entertainment again. wish we start to have believe and just go for it and batter teams, we are stuck in our shell. could not believe how bad crowd was, shame could have been a good fund raiser for hospice.
In reply to Dan's comments...'People collecting didn't look very enthusiastic albeit frozen solid'. Yes i certainly agree that we were as my grandson and i were there from 6.30pm.It was decided that as supporters were paying at the gate for the Hospice that we would collect at half-time. This we did all around the ground and i collected in the directors bar and clubhouse and stood at the gate when everyone left.We also were wearing bright yellow tabards so that if anyone wished to make a donation they could. Considering that most had paid something at the gate we still collected about £ 60.00 to add to that already announced by the club.So i personnaly wish to thank the club and all supporters who generously donated. The Hopspice always welcomes new volunteers or anyone can join the Hospice lottery on 01424-456384 to give regular support.
Dan you also said that 'possibly had no interest in football though.'This i find surprising as i am a season ticket holder and attend all home matches and most of the away games and have walked through the Pilot Field gates regularly for nearly 65 years !...so i would have thought you would have recognised me even though i was well wrapped up against the biting cold.
Sorry I want to apologise for that comment then, Tbh I didn't recognise you on the night and certainly don't blame you for being frozen!
Silly thing to say, sorry. Was just frustrated at had tried to do a lot of online advertising on twitter / Facebook etc and it clearly failed to really work In terms of the crowd.
As one who wasn't there (being in London and only down at weekends with my little boy) I really can't comment, other than 274 seems a tad on the light side for a free game, I would have though nearer to 400 at the very least, especially given the dearth of football at the Pilot Field for the last few weeks. I put a note on the EBFC supporters forum, and got a couple of promises to attend, but probably only contributed the sale of a cup of tea to the proceeds!
That said, a win is a win, three points is three points, and it is looking more and more likely that HUFC will be in the playoffs, beyond that, well, it's in the lap of the Gods!
