After the great win over Margate in the third round we now face another opponent from the premier division : Maidstone United, currently the number 4th in the table.
Can John Maggs inspire the team again and bring a '' unexpectedly '' victory home? Maybe Pogue and McCreadie wil upset the defense of the Kent side who only conceded 17 goals.
Any changes in the line-up : will Danny Ellis get his chance ? Is Bailo again upfront?
Hope the boys will get a lot of support tomorrow evening at the Gallagher Stadium
2nil defeat tonight but by no means overawed on the night. Cannot comment too much on 1st half as could not see f##k all with the thick fog. All I do know is that they scored and we didn't and there were very few chances at either end. 2nd half was terrific though with both teams having numerous chances. Hastings hit the woodwork 3 times and both Kenny and Irish missed from 6 yards when it looked easier to score. Whilst at the other end Josh made some super stops to keep Maidstone at bay. Always felt Maidstone had another gear if they needed it but all in all a pretty decent performance from all on the night.
A lovely ground and the Maidstone fans and staff were all very friendly and hope they get promoted this season after their years of turmoil and no ground. Even more so if its at the expense of Wealdscum. As for Hastings, they can now concentrate fully on getting out of this dire league.

Yeah bit unlucky tonight I thought John, the woodwork certainly came to their rescue as you say. Heard tonight that as it stands they won't be going up regardless if they win the league or not, however have barristers looking into a court appeal if needed, not sure how far that will get them knowing the way leagues tend to be unsympathetic towards clubs. Nice hospitality and a nice looking stadium.
I just wonder if John Maggs is having his first major crisis since joining the club. I must say I was told something completely different about Bailo as were others. On top of that Sam Cruttwell, despite being picked, did not want to play. Danny Ellis told the club he wanted to leave last week. McCreadie is out for a minimum of a month and Vickers has been given his final warning. Have I missed anything??????? Discussed it with a few other supporters last night and apart from Danny Ellis, who perhaps has been treated a little harshly, some of the players think they are bigger than the club. If they don't want to play get rid of them immediately. I think John is doing a great job and he needs players who want to play for the club, not themselves.
I very much hope Danny stays. I agree with Lenny. Danny is always visible, always working when he is on the pitch. Even when he is not at his best he makes a great contribution. When he is in full form he is terrific.
I hate to be negative about any player, but I have not been likewise impressed with Dolan. But he came with good references, and did he not play as a striker rather than in midfield for Hythe? With McCreadie injured might it be worth a try playing him further forward?
Dam! that is bad news. So suddenly we have lost Josh and McCreadie, arguably 2 of our best players. A couple more injuries or suspensions and the squad very quickly is looking a little thin. We surely have to get in another striker now! Just one striker at the club puts too much pressure on Kenny and if he breaks down we are in all kinds of trouble. As already mentioned lets have a look at Billy Medlock over at Eastbourne. Surely he would rather ply his trade at the top of the league rather than the bottom.

This is so true, no player is bigger then the club ! I think the problem we are facing now is the possibility of key players get injured and suspended. We do not have many options and now that Hare is also left the club we need now some new faces !
Dolan is a decent player, looked very good in his early games. Ellis also good but you can't fit everyone in. Hope the players stay, we have our best manager for many years but he must be given time. As for Cruttwell, rather play in County 2 rather than at Maidstone? He'll never make it with that attitude.
Being rung at 2 pm for games because there short etc and things like that I'd imagine, he's a young boy that needs to be used wisely and be checked up on by john all the time to make sure he's happy etc. Young kids like to be looked after and not fend for themselves in this day and age. Crutts will be a brilliant player for the club when his time comes I have no doubt.
