When I was Editor in Chief, Executive Officer, Chairman of the old Ghost fanzine all those years ago - the old version made of paper pages that you turned one by one (yes really) - it was basically me that did it with people helping out with the odd article here and there.
Then it went cyber and NONE of that would have been possible had it not been for Karl Horton. my techno mate. Karl patiently showed me the ropes on how to send him stuff, articles, match reports, photos, stills from the videos etc etc - and he would put it all together as an on line version of Ghost which, of course, you can find on here.
Well, I have been thinking for a while that I needed to transfer my 01/02 videos depicting Hastings Town's memorable title winning season to disk as vids deteriorate. Unknown to me, Karl had been thinking the same and a matter of weeks later - how things have moved on. I now have a disk with all three videos transferred to it and the big bonus came on the train home from our great win at Worthing yesterday when I got a tweet from Karl with the link below.........
This was in my very early days as a cameraman - cam pointed at pitch recording nothing when it was all happening, then when nothing was happening pointed downwards recording my feet, everything in a sickly green etc etc - so bear with that - but having said that, what Karl has cobbled together is a great reminder of our game at Longmead vs Tonbridge that August evening 12 years ago.
It is 100% amateur and it shows - the camera work etc etc - but people still talk about the videos from that season and even though we've moved onto HD this and HD that, it is still a record of the start of a great season. What is NOT amateur is how Karl has put this altogether - and I thank him for that.
Watch this space - there will be more. And this is probably best watched in small screen! And the green doesn't last long, I promise!
Simon, was really great to watch although i didn't know of course the players. 1-5 win and the players applauding to the supporters who were really great behind the goal. Nice white outfit !
Some good memories from the past. Strong defensively but we looked a little light offensively in those days, despite the 5 goals. Interesting to see a certain Brendon Cass on the bench for Tonbridge. Great player in his day and turned out for Faversham against Hastings this season, nearly 13 years on.
