We play against the current nr 18 in the League: Tooting & Mitcham United. They have 13 points from 12 games with a strange goal diff. 22-23 !

Can the team of John Maggs, including the new signing on a month loan deal from Gillingham : Josh Hare ( just 19 years old ), keep their winning run. It is still uncertain of Sean Ray will strengthen the squad also on a short term.

If we win today we are back on top because Walton Casuals game against Horstham is postponed.

Another 3 points, another average performance against more pitiful opponents. Dominated the first half without really making bucket loads of chances but deservedly went in 2up thanks to an own goal and a great finish from Danny after a well worked free kick. 2nd half started the same way and when Sammy put us 3up we all expected 5 or 6. But for some reason the team completely switched off and the quality on the pitch really was dreadful from both sides, the one bit of class coming from Frankie Sawyers magnificent strike. Very little else to comment on. Thought the new lad at the back had a good debut and Danny and Sam were excellent throughout. Another 90mins of Jono hasn't changed my mind on our problems at left back and no surprise again that their goal came down that side and Jordan Woodley......... speechless, ill let others comment on his input.

Nevertheless another vital 3 points without playing particularly well and a nice little gap now opened between us and 3rd place.

Will be a very good test of the profanity filter...

Another good 3 points against a team who were dire. Thought Ellis and Adams were great today, Sammy always puts in a good shift. Rodrigo showed signs of skill again, still thinks he needs another player up top with him. Would like to see him playing off Kenny at some point. As for that miss at the end . . . . .

Onwards and Upwards

Another very handy 3 points but the last 30 mins we were not great.

Now for a question

I know we have not seen a great deal of Branko but would you sooner have him up front or Frankie Sawyer?

It would be Frankie for me all day long. A 7 day letter should be put in next week he is wasted playing for that mob and he would fit in well with Adams,Camara and Pogue.

Cannot disagree with that Barry. I thought Frankie was head and shoulders above anyone on the Tooting team and looked very sharp and dangerous throughout the 90mins. We are only 3 games in and Branco has shown some good promise. It will undoubtedly take time for him to settle and he will be just fine but he is still not going to be that 20 goal plus a season striker we all yearn...in my opinion.

I think as you say John he will need time to settle in, I'm not sure if he's training with the squad midweek or not however I do know that he is looking for somewhere to live locally so that in itself is a major sign of commitment in my opinion. As regards Frankie he looked superb and I'm not sure that he could be tempted away giving that he lives in Lewisham, I've done that journey a lot of times when my lad was at Millwall and its a very tedious one at the best of times but a good shout regardless.

Had to disappear early when United were 3-0 up. What I saw was better than that turgid Folkestone game on Monday. Excellent Ellis goal - when he gets em, they're special. Always impressed with the shifts that Sam Adams puts in - top man. Just a shame Kenny Pogue wasn't available for that last half hour. Why do people get married during the football season?

Whatever - keep accumulating points while the management and coaches work on the team. One or two more additions - then get the blend right and United can look as good as Leatherhead who with Guernsey are the best I've seen so far.

"If woodley scores, we're on the pitch". He was obviously very conscious of crowd safety.

He couldn't of been that concerned Dave seeing as he took 5 of you out with that shot!

This was my first game at the Pilot Field for four years.
I enjoyed the game and was pleasantly supprised at some of the neat one two's the players put together, although after the 3rd goal went in it went a bit quiet. Good to see some old friends down there again and think I will be showing my face a bit more often now, it was also nice to meet Pat , seems a top bloke for a leeds utd fan . I also thought that the ref had a good game . Cracking Danny Ellis goal but the whole team looked good to me apart from the one who looks like he's eaten the pies,

Frankie had a good game for Tooting but Sam was better for Hastings. Good to have Matt Darby back and great to be in contention at the top. Very good free kick routine for Hastings second goal. We are close to being quite a good side but still a work in process.

Thought Sam Adams was excellent today and a decent performance all round including a good debut by Hare at CB.

Think the John Maggs effect is starting to be seen now.

It wasn't so much Jordan's miss, seen better strikers miss easier. Just winds me up when you see people like Sam, Kenny and Danny running their socks off for 90mins whilst Jordan, on the field for 20 mins, constantly loses the ball, throws his hands in the air and then walks back. There were times today when the effort was just not acceptable and i'm sure Maggsy will have noted that. Clapping in a referees face after you've been given a yellow card is not the smartest thing to do either. He has the ability, he now has to step before time runs out.

Completely agree with you John. You don't get a professional contract at Brighton without having ability but Jordan's weight and lack of fitness is holding him back. He might have been alright in the 70's and 80's but footballers are generally fit and quick these days even at Ryman South level. If he lost weight and got fitter he could play at a higher level if he doesn't he'll continue to frustrate himself and those who watch him.

To be fair to Jordan he worked very hard during pre season to get fit and has definitely lost the crap attitude that he had last season, I didn't see him clapping the referee for booking him today but I'm sure that if that had of been last season he would of had let that get to him. Alas I think that he has struggled to loose those extra pounds he put on in Eygypt, I hope that he puts the hard work in again and once again get fits.

Another good three points against yet another very disappointing side.  Three up and the game lost its momentum, but it must be difficult to keep going when the opposition is so poor.  Keep picking up the points and most of us will be well satisfied even if some of the games are not that entertaining.

dont think we need to play well to win games. started well and looked like we would coast to a big win but after 3rd goal we eased off and tooting could have taken advantage. Agree with Woodley he could be awesome player for us but his workrate is not good enough and think he should be dropped until he gets fitter or go to county league side to get more match time. hope new guy is not to badly injured. good seeing darby back
i am so surprised with how poor this league is. very few games have been competitive and yesterday was like a friendly at times. dont want to tempt fate of course. would like to really see the team give it all though through whole game and get more goals. as said must be hard when so many opposition teams are so poor but if we can play well for whole 90 minutes it would be better to watch and good to see more goals

Think everything's been said here. Just to add it was a pleasure to meet Peter from Hurst Green albeit briefly. Thank you for your support and donation yesterday. In regards to the football - I guess Powels 22 is right about switching off but I honestly thought we were going to go on and score a hatful. Apart from the legend that is Frankie Sawyer, Tooting were dire all over the park and that was a big surprise to me as I thought they would be stiff opposition

I think that sooner or later we're going to give a side a real pasting, I reckon it'll be either Whitstable or Eastbourne Town, I may be wrong but I just get a feeling. I hope I'm right.

If we will on Saturday, will the next round be on the 2nd November instead of Whitstable then?

Yeah it is and as Chris has said I feel we'll be still involved. I'd like to think we could make the first round proper given a favourable draw.

Be nice to get a run in the Trophy after all these years. We can always dream of a Wembley final.
