Just a brief farewell to all dedicated Hastings United supporters. I am fortunate enough to be relocating from Essex to St Ives Cornwall in the next week, although to maintain my successful business in Essex, I will be returning from Tuesday to Thursday each week
As a consequence I will not be regularly supporting United each Saturday home and away, but would look to take in mid week games and will follow fortunes from afar.
A note of appreciation for all supporters but particularly some special people including Tony Cosens, Simon Rudkins for his dedication to the playing surface, and those supporters who believe in a democratically run community based club with openness and transparency in all of its dealings. A belief that sees the club belonging to all the people of Hastings, but held in trust and stewardship by the shareholders
In recent years I have become involved as a Director of Southend United Community Trust, an organisation committed to working with that football club in promoting social inclusion, sports participation , apprenticeships, healthy living programmes, and schools sports activities. As a consequence the football club has developed a working partnership with Southend Borough Council who have assisted collaboratively in facilitating the planning of a new stadium for the club
A stark contrast to the position that some believe United now faces, but which was made possible through humility, partnership working and a desire to create rapport at every stage rather than discord and antagonism
Sadly I will not be able to continue the service that I have historically orovided at my own expense to Arrow FM, BBC Sussex and BBC Southern Counties and Arrow FM ( see subsequent posting Fat Finger Syndrome)
I must have missed the consultation with supporters about the proposed change. But away matches are still possible, to meet with the growing number of supporters who attend away matches only
