Just seen, truly gutted for them, shows what a game-ender financial mismanagement is at that level and ironically wasn't even to do with the actual football club itself anyway but the social club who owned their ground.
No seems that they voted 42-8 in favour of placing the club into insolvency. Not sure whether the per season friendly can still be played to help raise some funds for their future or not? I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
After a meeting this evening its been decided that Sidley will have a season off from football and in that time will look to put in place a committee and raise funds so that they can regroup and return next season whether that be in The Sussex County league or East Sussex league. Good luck to them and let's hope they can rise from the shambles they have been left in through no fault of their own.
Feel gutted for the people who've put in a huge amount of work keeping the club running, not forgetting their attempts at preventing the club from folding. Hate to see this sort of thing happen, you can only wish them luck and hope they'll be back playing next season!
So what's happening with the fundraiser, I see on nomad it's now going to be a Sidley Legends XI?
The consequences of not knowing the true state of a clubs finances has destroyed Sidley FC and Sidley CC, it's happened to far bigger clubs than them. Oh and buy the way do we know what our clubs money is spent on? I think not, should be more transparency in sporting finances.
Thankfully the way Sidleys social club was run, in no way replicates the way the clubs finances are run, its well documented that the club is solvent. Somehow I had an idea you'd ask what money was being spent on, just take a look around you next time you're at the ground. ......a new tunnel, pitch restoration, new televisions and decoration and new alarms in the club house new carpets throughout in the boardroom, ok you'll probably not get to see the boardroom but these haven't come cheaply, on top of a playing budget and an extra £4000 to find in rates this season and in the future. All this on an income which doesn't have the luxury of generating a year round income similar to that we generate during the playing season. Running a Football club in a stadium as old as our is extremely expensive and unless you are active in helping out then you won't appreciate the work that goes into maintaining the ground ect.
I expect some will accuse me of being a puppet and brainwashing others but as I've said before some people not all, just don't realise how much or appreciate how much work or money it takes to maintain the ground.
Leon,Im not sure what's happening regards the fund raiser now but I will try and find out and post on here.

We were 2 years ago at Sidley during our holiday at a car booth sale. A very friendly guy showed us the clubhouse and told us about the history of the club. It would be very sad if the club would disapear.

The latest news is that the club is taking a year out of football and will be trying raise money in that time to start again next season. As far as I am aware the fund raiser against the U21s is still set to go ahead on August 5th.
