Next season might be a difficult one for Hastings. If Guernsey have anything like the team that played at Rye in the Vase, they will be very strong. If we are honest we were a bit lucky to get the better of Peacehaven last season and there are bound to be some sides with strong squads and finiancial backing. Watching Spennymoor and Tunbridge Wells play in the Vase final Spennymoor in particular looked to be streets ahead of Hastings. It really is an indictment of the way the club has been run that a town the size of Hastings didn't build on our last promotion and we are back down in the Ryman South. In my opinion, the problems facing Hastings are not down to the qualities of individual managers. I think it is more down to the structure of the club which appears to restrict any other investors in the club. There are some great characters working incredibly hard at Hastings and I totally agree with the idea of not getting the football club into debt. However, the club does seem to be regressing and moving further away from the not too distant past when we were the best non-league team in Sussex. I am a bit worried we have reached our natural playing level under our present structure.
Think a few people are underestimating how tough it will actually be to get out of Ryman South. People calling it a glorified county league, when we've seen the likes of Crowborough, Crawley Down, Three Bridges win the Sussex County League and then struggle to carry on that form in the Ryman.
Calling it a glorified county league is ridiculous, this season isn't going to be an easy ride however giving the backing I feel we should be one of the favourites. We need to hit the ground running and can't afford to get off to a false start. We need to set our stall out early and let everyone know our intentions.

Stroll in the park???...we need to be 10 points clear by Christmas with as many games under our belts as possible..dont want a repeat of last season with 3 games a week....anyway need to be ready just in case we dont finish top and have to go up via the play offs....realistically there will only be 4-5 teams contesting the division.
backing and setting our stall early has to be more ambitious than county lg level, otherwise we wont hit the ground running,so looking to hear of higher level players coming in.
