Quite agree Chilli. We should not be in the Ryman South, but WE ARE! Unfortunately the table doesn't lie. Please, nobody start saying we were too good to go down. Gutted

So we're down ! Brilliant ! No complaints though.......a remarkable FA cup season but,to be honest, an absolutely terrible league season. Often we have looked like the worst team in the league and today its been confirmed. Thoroughly pee'd off !
Gutted we lost the fight so soon. Totally didn't see it coming tonight. Assumed Lowestoft would kill Wingate. Wingate have done what we couldn't.
We're down, that's that. We can all point the finger, but decisions were made and these were the consequences. Have to say I saw it coming a long way off. and fair dues to those calling for change over the last few months. perhaps change would've saved us. Massive shame after the FA Cup run. I feel rather numb inside. This club should not be in the Ryman South.
Really gutted but can't complain as the league performances haven't been good enought. In a weird way it could be for the best, time to regroup and bounce straight back. It will be interesting to see what positive changes are made going into next season. The glory of the FA cup seems massively over shadowed now such a shame
On my way home now in a very quiet car. Absolutely gutted, even though I was expecting it deep down, it's still a horrible horrible feeling :( As others have said the table never lies, but we're not a side who should be playing at Eastbourne Town next season.
Gutting, absolutely gutted. Such a topsy-turvy season with the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. Fifteen draws shows how close we were, one goal even in one or two more could've allowed us to climb. Carshalton's lucky break when they realised relegation was imminent didn't help either, but from where I've been standing, we've had the chances but just can't convert them. League performances haven't been good enough and it shows obviously in the table. Should never be in the Ryman South, I still feel we're a too big of a club to go down, but we've lacked quality. Well done to everyone who has kept the faith and the belief in the hard times, just sorry it ended this way. Remarkable season. Hopefully we can sign out with a bang on Saturday. COYUs!
You reap what you sow, Walters and Ray between them have sown chaos, indiscipline, bad management, and arrogance. This has now materialised into relegation, the best thing these 2 can do is leave the club as soon as possible in Rays case, and Walters please put the club up for sale at a fair price, and hopefully a buyer will come forward, as we supporters in the vast majority are saying enough is enough.
My next post will be when a new manager is appointed.
This post is not aimed at you chrisb in any way, i just so happen to post now
Last thing the club need is for people to rurn their backs , lets turn up on saturday, let the club know we're sticking with them through the bad times - regardless of what people may think of certain people- who knows, the people you dont like may not be there next season, the club defiently will and lets look on for next season, not the place we want to be but the annoying thing for the club and indeed the regular supporters will be to see people staying away untill we are promoted back to the ryman premier, away games next season will be easier and cheaper to get to so maybe hopefully a better away crowd and home prices SHOULD be reduced.
Lets show the club we are still 100% behind them and the best time to start will be on saturday, our final game for the Ryman Premier - for one season at least.
JohnW I think that is a little harsh. Some of us have jobs, which means mid week home matches are difficult enough to get to, and away matches are impossible. But saying that I know of some supporters who started coming to the PF after the cup run, but then stopped as Hastings were not winning.
And then there are all the supporters who will not go to PF whilst DW is there. But that is a different story.

Obvious comparisons can now be made with the 2002/03 season , success in the FA cup but a miserable relegation at the end of it. That most certainly wasn't for the best as we had a few awful years watching some of the poorest teams I have ever seen at the PF. Clearly we're all thinking that we're way too big a club for Ryman South and if we strengthen in four or five key areas we should bounce straight back. I wonder if that will happen.....it didn't ten years ago ! With only one automatic promotion place it can be a very tricky league to get out of. This isn't a dig at him but I just wonder if DW is as gutted as the fans. Really only Lewes brought a sizeable contingent to the PF and if Maidstone fail to go up, they will bring far more than Lewes did. We MUST have a better home record next season compared to this one.....and fans want to see wins.....not a defeat at a higher standard.....so, in theory at least, attendances could well go up. Add to that reduced travelling costs and suddenly things don't look so bad....just so long as you judge the club's success as what's showing in the bank account as against what's happening on the pitch.
Sadly, one of the few performances in the last few weeks where we could say that we were well and truly beaten by a better side on the day/night!
For some reason, there seemed to be a lack of passion/drive last night, not by all of the players, but certainly by some who have otherwise been very forthright in this area.
The post mortem will no doubt start in earnest after Saturday's game but, for now, I hope that we can all concentrate on helping to lift the players for one final game in the Ryman Premier which, I hope, we will be returning to in the 2014/15 season.
The players know in their hearts that they have to shoulder some of the blame and they do not need this being reinforced or thrown down their throats. You could see it in the eyes of some of the players last night, the ones which the Club should aim to retain and build a successful side around.
For those players who could not muster some semblance of passion last night, it is fair to question their commitment to the cause and the Club, but not a single one of them deliberately went out to play badly or underperform. Confidence is something which is easily lost and more difficult that we would hope to regain.
It is easy to call for heads to roll and the bandwagon of calling for Sean Ray to leave the Club will no doubt gather momentum, but there are many of the sides that we have played this season who would happily accommodate him in their side. His ability as a player and his famed strengths should have no bearing on what you might think of him as a Manager.
Equally calling for Dave Walter's head is somewhat misguided. How many times have Chairmen been criticised for not showing faith. There are no guarantees that a change of Manager would have created a different result at the end of the season. Calling for the Messiah is no guarantee for success . . . . you have to look no further than the QPR/Harry Redknapp sitiuation although, at least mathematically, they are still in with a chance of survival, albeit slim.
I, like the majority of you who want to see some good come from bad, am disappointed that we could not at least take some hope into the final game, but there will not be one true supporter who abandons the Club now, not when the support is most needed.
Here's to a highly successful, entertaining and ultimately rewarding 2013/14 season!
Glad I was there tonight to experience the low to balance out the high of Boro, I know it sounds wierd but rather it was settled yesterday than say drawing and having a tiny chance on sat to stay up and being gnawed from inside by hope and despair then watching the Pilot Field eat itself in grief.
I know we all disagree on here a lot but full respect to everyone such as Barry, ChrisB and everyone else who saw it through to the bitter end.
Hope we get a good win on sat just to leave the league with some pride even though it will mean bugger all.
I think there is a hugh fatigue factor in all this, you cannot expect quality performances from players who are playing 3 times a week and holding down full time jobs etc....this is non league football not professional football where players can rest between games...it was always going to be a big ask.
This season I have seen the best and worst football I have ever seen. The Hastings PLayers gave evrything. For that I am proud to call myself an Hastings united supporter.I watch football for the beautiful game and will be on the terrances next season.Lets Pick ourselves up and start again!
We were not the only team at the bottom to be playing 3 times a week it's just other clubs are organised better than ours. Massive changes needed throughout the club.

Well said. Regroup and a reorganisational structure is needed and we'll be back strong next season!
Absolutely gutted but not surprised with last night. I took no joy whatsoever last night in seeing Sean at the end of the game. Felt very sad for him and he looked gutted and a broken man. You could see all over his face how much that hurt and I really felt for him despite what others may think.
The game was a complete non event with not one shot on target in 90 minutes, not that it was backs to the wall as East Thurrock did not produce much themselves but there was just no conviction and no confidence throughout the team. Freddie and Sam never stopped running whilst N'Diaye...... ill say no more.
I'm sure the big inquest will now commence but special mention to the 30 odd die hards who were there last night. 4000 at Harrogate and yet possibly one of the most important games in our history and we muster together 30 supporters. Poor show Hastings!
Well at least something good came out of the game chrisb aint going to post until a new manager is in place hopefully then he won't be posting for a while
Your right BigCliff, for some it is difficult, regarding the ones who stopped coming because Hastings stopped winning, maybe they were fed up with the way Hastings were losing, everyone can except the odd defeat, but it did drag on a bit , for some that just is not worth spending £10 for.
Even allowing for the stay away Walters non fan club of which I am one of the many members, support still held up pretty well and there are many clubs who would be happy to have the fan base United still have. Relegation is horrendous whatever level of the game and I recall that drive back from Weymouth ten years ago after another season had gone belly up when a decent FA Cup run ended. We filled the away end at Stevenage with 700 odd and the following week at home to Worcester we might have had 500 or so.
United will be one the best followed clubs in the South division - hopefully this time it will be a quick return.
Had a night of kip to reflect on the campaign this season and im less upset now. :)
It came down to goals in the end. We had an ok defensive record but scored the least goals in the league by a fair margin. Scoring goals doesn't always come down to just the strikers of course, its often about the build up play and the overall tactics that lead to goals. Be interested to see how many chances we created vs other teams if that data ever existed (which I suspect it doesn't).
Inevitably there will be a clear out, and a few of our better players will move on. Should Sean go? I'd like to see him stay. I like the idea of developing the club around him now. We're down, nothing we can do about that but react. Let Sean build the club back up, bring in faces that will stick around for years to come, not a new team sheet each season. Let him do his magic with the youth players and bring them through. Players we get to know. This is an opportunity to rebuild and try to develop a league winning team. It may take 4-5 years to go back up, but of he does it right, we could go up with a much stronger cohesive team unit than we have this season. Players that know each other after seasons of playing together, who know their roles inside out, who can adapt their tactics when they need to. If we do that and go up we'd have a better chance of carrying on the charge towards the Conf South one day.
I'm still gutted, but there are some positives. At least the club still exists for one.
I think there might have been a few more than 30 John, there were quite a few down the side of the pitch and sitting in the stand but you make a good point about the missing masses. The game started in a subdued fashion off the pitch and sadly nothing happened on the pitch to change that. Very sad ending to the season. I'll still be back next season but relegation is nothing other than a disaster for me. Some people might be looking forward to us winning more games next year (hopefully) but for me its all about playing at as high a level as possible. Not sure what the answer is or the best way forward right now, still gutted. It will feel like a long close season
I think we have been the bookies favourites for relegation in most of the recent seasons so the only real surprise about this season is that we look like we are going to finish right at the bottom. Agree with Chilli about keeping Sean in charge. He really cares about the club and town. Don't think we would have done much better this season with Fergie in charge. Could be time for a few changes elsewhere. Would Dave Walters consider bringing in some other backers (if they are around)? It would mean he would give up ultimate control of the club but it might bring some benefits. They would all have to work together,of course, which might prove difficult. What about making all our finances as transparent as possible-as Lewes do. How about a new wage structure for players next season based on results and bonuses for goals, crowd figures and league position? All made public at the start of the season. Looking at our performance at Peacehaven don't think our present squad would be any better than top half of the table.
I seriously can't believe what I am reading. Relegated, could finish bottom, won less games than anyone, scored less goals and we want to build a club around that! I love the club and love the town, doesn't make me the best person to take control of team affairs. We have made so many bad decisions and still we don't learn. How can a league season like that be rewarded by staying in the job?
I would have Razor all day long in the centre of defence next season 100%. He will be fine in Ryman South that is something I am certain off. The question is if a new manager were to be appointed would he want the former manager in the dressing room? Hard decision. maybe this thread and thread on the manager is harsh all the time he is still the boss, football is all about opinions I guess!
Must admit, i agree with Barry and BigO. Razor isn't a manager yet, he's still a player and he's better in seasons before this. I feel the added pressure of being a manager has seen his play deteriorate during this season and he's been a liability - getting red and yellow cards and giving away penalties. Sean is a very good defender, but I think someone new is needed. I feel Sean still has lots left in him and needs to focus on his game so someone can take the pressure of the managerial status off his shoulders.
