3 wins in the final week would, of course, guarantee our safety. Unfortunately we have lost on each of the last 8 occasions when we have played Bury. East Thurrock have won 6 and drawn 4 of their 10 matches and we did lose 5-1 there this season in the trophy. So it would be a great achievement to get to our final home match with still something left to play for. Good luck to all the team in this crucial week.
Here here Tim, going to be a massive week for the lads. Be great to get a big crowd at The Pilot Field on Saturday too. Can't make any of the midweek games this week as I'm with the reserves tomorrow and The U18's on Thursday so hopefully the lads can pull off a shock or two. Come on Boywithout can do it!
Saturday proved at least one thing! The boys have the bottle to fight all the way for survival. The quality to get the necessary wins has been displayed but albeit too infrequently thus far. As games earlier in the season proved, we are a match and more for any side in this League, on our day. So let's hope that we have at least two if not three more big performances in us. I will be there shouting for our lads tomorrow and Thursday night and the more support that we cn provide the more tha the team will see that the fans are behind them all the way. Saturday, I am sure, will see a great turnout, but those extra few supporters in the intervening games may just make the difference to use the confidence achieved through Saturday's result to make the final game a formality
We know that the boys have got it in them to beat 'better' opposition. They've done it to Staines, Bishop's Stortford, Harrogate and Crawley - so there's do this. It's now or never - I believe!
So... My week has been scuppered with a last minute client request sending me to Brussels at 4am tomorrow morning. Although gutted to miss tomorrow and Thurday (was hoping to make both) I made it plain and simple that I would not go unless I could be back in the UK for Saturday 10AM - so I now have five hours to get from Heathrow to the Pilot Field at a cost of £600 to the boss...
As this is the final week, I've written a bumper mid-week article explaining the ups and down of this Hastings United football season! Thought I'd share it with everyone one the forum as I know that quite a few are fond of my work! Please read, like and share!
