Who remembers this ? I just spent the afternoon reliving it .What a performsnce that was ... down to ten men after 25 minutes but how well did the lads play back then  ? I almost forgot how good Spicer and Jimmy Elford were that day . The whole team in fact , but those two were fantastic ! Enjoy the clip and the scenes after the goal went in . It’s been a while since we’ve had a scene like that  ,https://instagram.com/p/BggkEouFbQFN2wG0XWNXZ-jp6qPqeUrIyuXz-M0/    i apologise now if you can’t see the clip . I saved it on Instagram . Thanks to Dave Shirley and DATV productions for the film !

One of my favourite matches-thought Sam was very unlucky to be sent off for 2 minor offences.

John you mentioned Dave Shirley. Dave was also responsible for the Hastings Saxons Speedway site, which contains photos of the Pilot Field back in the late 40’s showing speedway racing in front of 8000 spectators. We. Worth a look at. Just google Hastings Saxons and it should come up.

This was the first season I started watching Hastings. I wasn't at the Dover game, but I was at the final which was a wonderful performance and atmosphere too. Such a shame that champagne moments have been pretty thin on the ground since - the FA cup run of a few years ago apart and the Harrogate games in particular.
Interesting to compare our fortunes with those of Dover over the intervening years - they are now knocking on the door of league football whilst we are where we are.
